Data Architect & Engineer Bambee | Glendale, CA (Onsite) | Full-Time About Bambee Bambee is on a mission to transform HR for small businesses. We're building an AI-driven platform that gives the 96% of small businesses without dedicated HR the tools, protection, and workforce intelligence they need to compete and we need someone to build the data foundation that makes it all possible. We are building an AI-driven HR and workforce intelligence platform that transforms HR from a reactive, cumbersome function into a proactive, strategic asset. One that detects risk before it escalates, turns ambiguous employment decisions into objective ones, and gives small businesses the same compliance protections and workforce intelligence as Fortune 500 companies. In a system where 96% of the 5.6 million U.S. small businesses with employees lack dedicated HR infrastructure, Bambee is closing that gap — not with more headcount, but with intelligence. The Opportunity We're looking for a hands-on Data Architect & Engineer someone who can both design the blueprint and build the house. You won't be handing off specs to a team; you'll own the full data lifecycle, from modeling and governance to pipelines and delivery. Embedded within the Engineering team, you'll be a core collaborator on how Bambee's data infrastructure is built and scaled shaping how we use data to drive product decisions, business intelligence, and AI features. What You'll Do Architecture & Strategy Design and own Bambee's data architecture schema design, data models, and the overall structure of our data ecosystem Define data governance standards, naming conventions, and documentation practices Partner with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to align data infrastructure with company goals Evaluate and recommend tools, platforms, and vendors (warehouses, orchestration, BI layers) Engineering & Execution Build and maintain reliable ETL/ELT pipelines that move data from source systems into our warehouse Instrument data quality checks and monitoring across pipelines Manage and optimize our data warehouse (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift) Collaborate with analysts and PMs to ensure clean, well-modeled data is available for reporting and AI/ML use cases Support BI tooling and self-serve analytics infrastructure What We're Looking For Required 5+ years of combined experience in data engineering and/or data architecture Strong SQL skills and experience with modern data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) Hands-on experience building and maintaining data pipelines (dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, or similar) Solid understanding of data modeling concepts (star schema, dimensional modeling, etc.) Experience working cross-functionally with non-technical stakeholders Comfort working autonomously in a fast-moving, small-team environment Nice to Have Experience in SaaS, HR tech, or fintech Familiarity with AI/ML data infrastructure or feature stores Python or Spark experience Knowledge of data governance frameworks Our culture You'll fit here if you believe problems are fixable and move fast without lowering standards.
