Primary Responsibilities:
Provide support to district offices and local school media center personnel using library management software for managing print and digital resources including but not limited to, library books, parent center materials and bookroom items. Maintain and provide technical support for the library management system for district and school resources.
- Maintain current records of books and digital resources in library collections.
- Prepare and organize new materials for circulation.
- Answer user questions and troubleshoot library catalog issues.
- Assist with library catalog training.
Assist in the receiving and processing of new materials for the Library Media Services Department.
- Communicate with schools and Transportation to arrange pickup and delivery of materials for processing by the Library Media Services department.
- Process library materials by request for local school libraries or for other GCPS district offices.
- Manage local inventory of unique barcodes for each school.
- Assist with packing materials for shipment to schools.
- Manage mobile library inventories and resources.
Manage logistics for a variety of Library Media Services programs including, but not limited to, Readers Rally and the Book Mobile.
- Manage communication with principals, community housing managers, drivers and media staff on the details of the Book Mobile program.
- Manage reservations, confirmations and scheduling of the Book Mobile events including booking drivers, workers and volunteers.
- Assist in the development and delivery of volunteer training.
- Create and manage a detailed calendar of dates and communicate relevant deadlines.
- Oversee the stocking of both Book Mobiles; inform Coordinator of inventory status.
- Prepare and organize materials needed such as signage, scanners and computer applications.
- Perform similar duties as needed for other Library Media Services events and programs.
Manage concurrent tasks within a collaborative team to ensure a responsive and positive customer-focused climate.
- Apply technology appropriately to develop and produce quality documents such as calendars, job aids, process documents, instructions and checklists.
- Develop spreadsheets integrating data from multiple sources for communication to stakeholders.
- Provide administrative support to the department by identifying, developing, and streamlining areas of process improvement and service delivery.
- Support department leaders through thorough knowledge of procedures and information essential to Library Media Services programs and events.
