EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF DATA & TECHNOLOGY
GENERAL
JOB SUMMARY
This is a full-time administrative position responsible for providing strategic leadership, coordination, and oversight of the College's technology, enterprise systems, institutional research, analytics, and data governance functions. The Executive Director of Data & Technology develops and advances a unified vision for technology and data services that supports institutional priorities, operational effectiveness, student success, and collaboration across all college departments. Campus location will be determined upon hire. Primary responsibilities include leading institutional technology initiatives, managing enterprise systems and digital infrastructure, supporting data-informed decision-making, fostering cross-departmental collaboration, and ensuring projects are implemented successfully from planning through completion. This position promotes a culture of service, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement while building strong working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, and external partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
(% OF TIME): Constant (67-100%) Provide leadership and strategic direction for the College's information technology, enterprise systems, institutional research, analytics, and data governance operations. Develop and communicate a unified institutional vision for technology and data services aligned with the College's mission, strategic priorities, and operational goals. Lead and manage cross-functional technology and data initiatives from planning through implementation and completion. Build collaborative relationships with academic and administrative departments to ensure technology and data solutions support institutional needs and student success initiatives. Promote a service-oriented culture focused on responsiveness, communication, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Oversee enterprise systems including ERP/SIS, LMS, CRM, reporting systems, and related institutional technologies. Ensure the integrity, reliability, security, and accessibility of institutional data and technology systems. Supervise and support departmental personnel, including assigning responsibilities, monitoring performance, encouraging professional growth, and fostering a collaborative work environment. Communicate complex technical and analytical information clearly and effectively to individuals with carrying levels of technical knowledge. Support data-informed decision making by expanding access to actionable reporting, dashboards, and analytics tools. Maintain established office hours and availability for institutional collaboration and project support. Serve as a member of the President's Cabinet. Frequent (34-66%) Coordinate and oversee institutional technology projects, system Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to identify operational challenges and develop technology-based solutions. Develop and maintain policies, procedures, standards, and best practices related to technology services, cybersecurity, and data governance. Monitor departmental budgets, technology resources, contracts, and vendor relationships. Prepare presentations, reports, and recommendations for executive leadership and the Board of Trustees. Support institutional planning, accreditation, assessment, and program review activities through research, reporting, and analysis. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation reporting requirements, including FERPA and data privacy regulations. Facilitate meetings, project teams, and institutional committees related to technology, data governance, and operational effectiveness. Monitor project timelines, deliverables, and performance outcomes to ensure successful completion and implementation. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions that improve institutional efficiency, collaboration, and service delivery. Assist in strengthening communication and collaboration between departments to improve institutional alignment and workflow integration. Promote a positive institutional culture through professionalism, leadership, collaboration, and effective interpersonal communication. Occasional (10-33%) Participate in institutional events, training sessions, leadership meetings, and professional development activities. Participate in selected collegewide and assigned institutional committees. Represent the College in meetings with external organizations, technology partners, vendors, and community stakeholders. Assist with emergency planning, disaster recovery preparation, and business continuity initiatives. Support implementation of new systems, technologies, and process improvement initiatives across the institution. Attend conferences, workshops, and training related to information technology, institutional research, leadership, and higher education innovation. Perform other duties as assigned.

Demonstrated leadership ability with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Ability to create and communicate a clear, unified vision for institutional technology and data services. Strong project management skills with the ability to lead initiatives to successful completion. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and develop effective partnerships with diverse stakeholders. Knowledge of enterprise systems, institutional research practices, analytics tools, and information technology operations. Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, data governance, and regulatory compliance requirements. Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills. Ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective, practical solutions. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to supervise personnel, manage resources, and foster a collaborative team environment. Ability to manage multiple priorities in an environment with changing demands and deadlines. Ability to access, input, retrieve, and analyze information using institutional technology systems and reporting platforms. Ability to represent the College in a professional and positive manner with employees, students, vendors, and community members. SPECIAL DEMANDS
Sedentary to light work. Frequent use of computers and technology systems required. Position involves sitting most of the time; standing walking, lifting, carrying, reading, and repetitive motion occasionally (10-33%). Talking, hearing, and viewing various types of close visual work and repetitive motion constantly (67-100%). May be required to travel utilizing personal vehicle. Must have valid driver's license, good driving record and provide proof of insurance. Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor's degree with industry recognized credentials specific to position, or master's degree in information technology, information systems, institutional research, business administration, education, leadership, or related field required. Minimum of three years of progressively responsible leadership experience in technology services, institutional research, enterprise systems, project management, education, or related administrative areas preferred. Must possess strong communication, leadership, organizational, collaboration, and project management skills.
