Overview As a Sr Database Architect, you will be a key member of the Global GTS Database Architecture team. This role will be proficient in investigating, decomposing, and combining data of different data sources and types. Ideal candidates are prepared to design appropriate solutions to support AJG Data Platform needs. The Database Architect with migration experience specializes in designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems while also possessing the expertise to manage and execute database migrations. This role involves ensuring the efficient and secure transfer of data across different platforms or environments, such as from on-premises to cloud-based systems. The architect works to optimize database performance, ensure data integrity, and support business objectives through effective data management strategies. They will identify and explore new data sources and be primarily focused on developing integration processes between systems and create thorough diagrams and documentation. They will also be responsible for identifying datasets targeted for on-prem migration and architecting the requisite platform for hosting that data from within the Gallagher datacentre. How you'll make an impact Participate in various AJG projects to support database platforms needs Evaluate existing database systems and infrastructure to understand the scope and requirements of the migration Develop detailed migration plans, including timelines, resources, and risk assessments to ensure a smooth transition Support SaaS products such as Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, etc. Evaluate and implement database security configurations Perform data ETL/ELT processeses to move data from source to target systems Implement necessary database schema changes and optimize performance during migration processes Ensure data integrity, consistency, and security throughout the migration Conduct comprehensive testing of migrated databases to ensure they meet functionality, performance, and security standards Identify and resolve any data discrepancies or issues that arise during or after the migration Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, business units, and external vendors, to align migration strategies with business objectives Provide regular updates and reports on migration progress, challenges, and resolutions to stakeholders Maintain detailed documentation of migration processes, configurations, and any changes made to the database systems Ensure compliance with data protection regulations, industry standards, and company policies throughout the migration process Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for migrated databases to address any issues that may arise Implement improvements and optimizations based on feedback and performance analysis post-migration
About You Required:
Hands-on experience with designing, moving and transforming data to/from Microsoft SQL Server, Snowflake, and Azure SQL. Experience with Azure Synapse, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle optional. Hands-on experience with integration technologies such as SQL Server Integration Services, Azure Data Factory, Azure Logic Apps, Power Automate Azure Integration Services or similar technologies. Extensive experience implementing Always On Availability Groups Mastery of relational SQL and NoSQL databases Mastery knowledge of Snowflake in both AWS and Azure clouds Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills Strong emphasis on security and compliance (SOX, PCI DSS, localized data privacy regulations, etc.) Effective time-management skills Experience with ServiceNow ticket management system Ability to adapt to ever-changing system environments and understand all business applications Desire to learn new technologies and adapt requirements for future cloud solutions Good organizational skills and a strict attention to detail and proven ability to follow through Strong interpersonal skills Ability to develop effective working relationships with stakeholders Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively collaborate with multi-disciplinary groups and all organizational levels. Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field and minimum 10 years of experience administering and maintaining SQL Server, Snowflake, SQL Azure, MySQL Azure, PostgreSQL Azure as a DBA or Database Architect. The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to previous experience, education, pay market/geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business/practice area, supply/demand, and scheduled hours.
