Hiring Agency Justice & Public Safety Cabinet | Department of Corrections Location 275 E Main Street Frankfort, KY 40601 USA Description Would you like to have a position that is team oriented and full of opportunity for career development? If so, look no further than working as an Offender Information Specialist I for the Department of Corrections. The Offender Information Specialist I is assigned to the Offender Information Services Branch. A successful candidate should possess strong communication skills, planning, prioritizing, organization, analytical thinking, have acute attention to detail, time management skills, and initiative. A strong candidate should be able to work under pressure and continue to maintain absolute accuracy in their work. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Calculate terms of imprisonment to ensure that inmates have served the length of time required and issuing any credits to their sentences, release dates, jail time, parole eligibility and good time adjustments. Audit accuracy of terms of imprisonment. Enter data regarding terms of imprisonment into the Kentucky Offender Management System and maintains the status of active and inactive probationers. Serve as liaison for institutional staff. Provide verbal and written information regarding the status of prisoners to officials and the public. Furnishes records information to administrative staff, the Parole Board and Courts. Prepare inmate furloughs, transfers, conditional release and parole lists. Answers telephone inquiries from Probation and Parole Offices for information regarding inmate's sentences and release dates for the Pre-Sentence Investigation. Respond to Requests for Information According to Open Records Statutes. Implement all functions associated with receiving and discharging inmates to and from the Department of Corrections. Communicate With courts, county and state agencies, general public, inmates, institution staff, regarding inmates official record. Interpret, Adhere to and enforce all rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to inmate records. Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION

Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

Administrative, legal, paralegal, law enforcement, or offender records work experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
