Hiring Agency Justice & Public Safety Cabinet | Department of Corrections Location 275 E Main Street Frankfort, KY 40601 USA Description Looking for an opportunity for career development with the Department of Corrections? If so, look no further than working as an Offender Information Specialist I. The Offender Information Specialist I is assigned to the Offender Information Services Branch. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Calculates terms of imprisonment to ensure that inmates have served the length of time required and issuing any credits to their sentences, release dates, jail time, parole eligibility, and good time adjustments. Audits accuracy of terms of imprisonment. Enters data regarding terms of imprisonment into the Kentucky Offender Management System and maintains the status of active and inactive probationers. Serves as liaison for institutional staff. Provides verbal and written information regarding the status of prisoners to officials and the public. Furnishes records information to administrative staff, the parole board, and courts. Prepares inmate furloughs, transfers, conditional release, and parole lists. Answers telephone inquiries from probation and parole offices for information regarding inmate's sentences and release dates for the pre-sentence investigation. Responds to requests for information according to open records statutes. Implements all functions associated with receiving and discharging inmates to and from the Department of Corrections. Communicates with courts, county and state agencies, general public, inmates, and institution staff regarding inmate's official record. Interprets and adheres to all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to inmate records.

Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

Administrative, legal, paralegal, law enforcement, or offender records work experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.

(AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE Working Conditions Work is typically performed in an office setting. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in
KRS 18A.111.
