Job Description

Analyze department data for patterns and trends to assist with resource deployment for crime prevention and to aid the investigations process. Assist with special events or projects as needed. Provide data, reports, and recommendations to various divisions and customers. Provide customer service in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the city. 1. Manage department data
  • Create and maintain databases for department data and statistics
  • Analyze information relating to crime trends, crime patterns, offender descriptions, target locations, and accident statistics.
  • Create crime data reports for department personnel, city staff, and government officials.
  • Review and update data on a regular basis to ensure currency, quality, and accuracy.
  • Provide accurate and timely information for operation, maintenance, and future project planning.
  • Provide analysis, research, solution scenarios, maps, graphics, and other related information to both internal and external customers.
2. Collaborate with others Keep supervisor, patrol, and other city departments informed of department projects, data, and online applications. Ensure work product is developed consistently with city standards for the management of centralized GIS data, applications and online maps. Assist with research and data development in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies. 3. Other/general administration Provide customer service in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner. Keep supervisor informed of assignments, issues, and concerns as they arise. Work in a team environment, providing service and support to internal and external customers. Perform work duties both in the office and in the field. Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as apparent or assigned. Two years related experience or education in data science or analytics or related field. Valid driver's license (or able to obtain upon hire) and the ability to perform occasional field work using a personal or city vehicle. Computer proficiency and advanced skills with Microsoft office applications.
Ability to:
Communicate effectively. Collect, interpret, enter and analyze data in an efficient and accurate manner. Organize, plan and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision. Work experience with St. Louis Park and Public Safety. Advanced certificate or degree in a related field. Experience with GIS. Experience with data analysis programs such as CellHawk or Cellebrite.
