Charlotte, NC Job Details 18 hours ago Qualifications Vendor relationship building Team leadership Legal firm experience Bachelor's degree Law office Senior leadership Full Job Description Moore & Van Allen PLLC, a dynamic and fast-growing full-service law firm of more than 400 attorneys and professionals, is seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Information Governance & Knowledge to join its Charlotte, NC office. The Senior Manager of Information Governance (IG) and Knowledge leads the firm's end-to-end information lifecycle—creation, classification, storage, use, retention, legal hold, disposition, and privacy—while building and scaling a modern Knowledge Management (KM) program. The role partners with Legal/Risk, IT/Security, and practice leadership to reduce risk, increase findability, and accelerate matter delivery.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
IG Strategy & Policy Own the firm's IG framework and policies (classification, retention, disposition, legal hold, privacy, acceptable use). Chair or co-chair the IG Advisory; maintain alignment with client requirements and regulatory standards. Establish governance controls, audit cadence, and remediation plans. Records & Information Management (RIM) Operate a defensible records program for physical and electronic content across DMS, email, chat, shared drives, collaboration sites, and archives. Manage offsite storage, digitization, transfers, and destruction workflows. Maintain retention schedules. Knowledge Management (KM) Build and maintain taxonomies, matter/modeled documents, playbooks, checklists, and precedent libraries. Stand up capture workflows and promote standards for profiling/metadata. Implement enterprise search and knowledge discovery approaches that improve time-to-find and reuse. Privacy, Risk & Compliance Partner with various teams on data minimization, discovery readiness, client outside counsel guidelines, audits, and incident response. Align practices with relevant regulations/standards; prepare evidence for client audits and certifications. Technology & Data Enablement Evaluate and pilot AI-assisted classification, summarization, retrieval, and quality checks with appropriate guardrails. Define functional requirements, roadmaps, and vendor SLAs; manage budgets and licenses. Change Management & Adoption Drive communications, training, and adoption metrics; embed IG/KM behaviors within practice groups and business teams. Develop role-based guidance for attorneys, assistants, and business staff; measure and report outcomes. Leadership & Operations Lead and develop a high-performing team; establish goals, career paths, and performance metrics. Manage vendor relationships and contracts; track KPIs and report to executive sponsors and governance bodies.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in related field required 10+ years in Information Governance, Records & Information Management, or Knowledge Management within a law firm or professional services setting required. 5+ years leading teams and programs required. Preferred certification(s):
IGP, CRM, CIP, CIPP/US
(or equivalent privacy); PMP or Lean Six Sigma a plus. Proficiency with DMS (iManage), Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, records systems, and reporting & analytics platforms.
Physical Requirements:
The work is primarily sedentary. It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing. The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. The work at times requires bending, squatting, and reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull light weights.
