Must have a qualifying letter from the North Carolina Division of Health and Human Services Skilled in the operation of technologically current microcomputer equipment and peripherals Skilled in basic word processing, spreadsheets and software programs Knowledge of student accounting procedures and regulations Knowledge of source data and operations of school from which source data originates Ability to independently exercise judgment in correcting data errors or omissions Ability to exercise good judgement, take initiative, and work with minimal supervision Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community families Ability to organize and prioritize tasks Strong verbal/written communication skills in English Considerable knowledge of office practices and procedures, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, and proofreading TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED
Computer skills, FAX machine, printers, computer networking system, electronic calculator, optical mark scanners, and photocopier. EDUCATION AND TRAINING
High school diploma and two (2) years of related clerical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. TERM OF EMPLOYMENT

Non-Exempt PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform the usual office routines and practices associated with a busy yet productive and smoothly-run office. Understanding the constraints of the student information management system in order to identify and correct data errors and to generate federal, state, and local reports effectively. Reviewing source documents and computer listings for the purposes of identifying and correcting data. Entering and reporting data with extra care and constant attention to the security of confidential student information. Entering data with accuracy at high speed given consideration for time required for judgment and the difficulty of transcribing and verifying source data. Manage and maintain child application files and data based for Head Start Project and preschool program. Manage and maintain a welcoming and inviting atmosphere in the family waiting area. Work with and support families through the preschool child application process. Handling all incoming phone calls to the preschool office. Perform other duties as assigned PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations. Ability to be physically active, which includes, but is not limited to, reaching, pulling, standing, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, sitting, and walking, including repetitive motions for prolonged periods of time. Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds routinely and 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to facilitate the evacuation of students during emergency situations and/or drills. Must be able to tolerate a noisy, busy work environment with occasional very loud noises. Must be able to visually and auditorily effectively communicate with staff and others.
