Our services include individual career advising, internship and employment search assistance, workshops on career readiness, on-campus interviewing, graduate school preparation, internship and job listings, and occupational information. Position Summary This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. Under the direction of Associate Director of Marketing & Analytics, the Assistant Director of Data & Assessment plays a pivotal role in the UNC Career Center by leading data-informed decision-making, continuous improvements efforts, and measuring outcomes. This position is responsible for designing and implementing assessment strategies, managing data collection and analysis, developing clear data visualization tools, and providing actionable insights to enhance the effectiveness of the UNC Career Center's programs, services, and initiatives. The Assistant Director will collaborate with all UNC Career Center staff, partner with distributed career teams across UNC, employers, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to ensure UNC Career Center activities align with institutional goals and respond effectively to the needs of students, employers, and alumni. The Assistant Director will oversee the UNC Career Center assessment efforts, survey construction, and reporting efforts. This role will also lead the University's First Destination Survey (FDS) efforts which includes collaborating with campus stakeholders (e.g., Registrar, Office of Institutional Research, etc.), partnering with career colleagues across campus, ensuring the comprehensive collection of career outcomes, developing data visualizations of student & employer data, upholding data security and data governance procedures, and assisting with storytelling efforts. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Analytical mind and problem solver with ability to think strategically. Strong project management skills and attention to detail. Knowledge of and experience with program assessment. Demonstrated commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice and integrity. Demonstrated ability to use discretion and professional judgement. Ability to establish rapport and relate well to students, faculty, employers, alumni, donors, and staff. Ability to collaborate and foster a spirit of engagement. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment. Willingness to learn and use new and emerging technologies including social media and online resources. Knowledge of program evaluation and assessment techniques. Experience with survey design and data analysis. Proficiency in data collection, data analytics, and data visualization tools (e.g., Qualtrics, Excel, Tableau, Power Bi etc.) Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Ability to effectively create and deliver presentations and workshops to large audiences. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Master's degree in data research, data analytics, data science, data research, business administration, higher education, or other related fields. Minimum three (3) years of experience in data analysis, assessment, or related roles, preferably within higher education or a career services environment. Advanced experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R), and database management. Demonstrated leadership in building relationships and networks. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with campus leaders, faculty, staff, and students across a variety of units and divisions. Experience with assessment and reporting for accreditation purposes. Computer proficiency (specifically Microsoft Office Suite and industry standard career management systems, Handshake). Experience working in a career services or student affairs environment. Understanding of career education, career readiness, work-based learning, and/or emerging trends within experiential learning. Understanding of business development, relationship development/management, corporate relations, alumni relations, and/or fundraising. Valid NC Driver's License or eligibility to hold a valid NC Driver's License. Special Physical/Mental Requirements Campus Security Authority Responsibilities This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act.
