Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a Data Security Principal Architect to lead the design and implementation of enterprise-wide data protection strategies. This role combines expertise in traditional data security with modern AI-driven security practices, ensuring data is protected across its lifecycle in cloud, AI/ML, and enterprise environments. Key Responsibilities Define and lead data protection strategy across structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data Ensure alignment with regulatory, legal, and business requirements (e.g., SOX, GDPR, CCPA) Architect and implement data classification and governance solutions using tools such as Azure Purview Design and secure AI data pipelines, including RAG architectures and vector databases Implement encryption strategies for data at rest and in transit, including advanced techniques for AI/LLM pipelines Develop and manage data loss prevention (DLP) policies across enterprise platforms (e.g., email, endpoints, cloud storage, collaboration tools) Lead initiatives for legacy data cleanup, deduplication, archiving, and lifecycle management Provide architectural guidance, threat modeling, and security best practices to engineering and AI/ML teams Evaluate and integrate third-party tools for data discovery, monitoring, and tokenization Define Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) strategy and architecture Establish data incident response protocols and playbooks Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Security Engineering, Data Governance, Cloud Operations, and AI/ML teams Balance security, usability, and operational efficiency in solution design Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent experience 10+ years of experience in information security or data architecture roles Strong expertise in data protection, encryption, and security architecture Experience with cloud-based data security solutions and enterprise data environments Strong understanding of cryptographic standards such as AES, SHA, and TLS Experience with data lifecycle management and governance practices Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Strong analytical and risk assessment capabilities Preferred Qualifications Experience in regulated industries such as utilities or similar sectors Experience with data protection in data lakes or Azure Synapse environments Experience working with AI/ML or LLM security and responsible AI practices Experience with DSPM platforms and data security frameworks Experience with legacy data migration or archival initiatives Relevant certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, or Azure Security certifications Knowledge of advanced or emerging cryptographic approaches, including quantum-resistant techniques Strong interest in AI safety and responsible data governance
