Job Description

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated IT Security Manager classified under Metro's Information Systems Manager to lead departmental information security compliance and operations. This position is responsible for ensuring adherence to the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy, the Metro Government Information Security Framework, MNPD policies, and industry best practices. The IT Security Manager will serve as MNPD's Local Agency Security Officer (LASO), and will oversee security governance, policy development, audit readiness, incident response coordination, and continuous monitoring of security controls across MNPD systems. The role works collaboratively with all MNPD IT managers, Metro ITS Enterprise Information Security, and MNPD command staff to maintain a secure, compliant technology environment supporting public-safety operations. The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) is a 24/7/365 operation. Serves as MNPD's Local Agency Security Officer (LASO), representing the department in all matters related to
FBI CJIS
information security requirements. Ensures departmental compliance with the
FBI CJIS
Security Policy, Metro Government Information Security Framework, and applicable MNPD policies. Communicates CJIS and other security alerts, advisories, and directives to MNPD IT personnel and affected divisions. Collects, updates, and maintains information security documentation, including system security configurations, diagrams, inventories, and audit artifacts. Coordinates and assists with internal and external information security audits, including Metro ITS Enterprise Security assessments, CJIS audits, and internal MNPD compliance reviews. Leads the development, maintenance, and dissemination of MNPD information security policies, procedures, standard operating procedures, and security guidelines. Implements, manages, and monitors security technologies including identity and access management tools, endpoint and mobile device security solutions, logging/monitoring platforms, network security controls, and vulnerability management systems. Conducts periodic reviews of user access, system permissions, encryption status, patch levels, and other required CJIS security controls. Coordinates with MNPD IT managers to ensure secure system design, architecture, and operational practices for all police technology systems. Collaborates with Metro ITS Enterprise Security to ensure alignment with Metro-wide security initiatives, incident response coordination, and risk management activities. Oversee security incident reporting, documentation, tracking, and remediation activities. Provides security training, awareness, and guidance to MNPD personnel, contractors, and partner agencies. Supports technology projects by reviewing system designs, evaluating vendors for security compliance, and ensuring adherence to established standards. Participates in disaster recovery and continuity of operations planning. Must attend off - site meetings, trainings, or conferences related to information security, compliance, and technology operations. Performs additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Five (5) years of professional experience managing information systems, information technology, Information Security, or related fields, of which two (2) years must have been supervisory or lead experience. •No Substitution•
LICENSES REQUIRED

All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government. Professional security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Security+, CEH, or similar. Experience serving as a CJIS LASO, ISM, or comparable information security governance role. Experience with NIST or CJIS-aligned security controls, risk assessments, and compliance audits. Strong knowledge of information security principles, regulatory requirements, criminal justice information systems, and CJIS Security Policy controls.
