Job Description
Description We are currently expanding our infrastructure management team and are looking for proven technology managers with experience in people management, strong technical understanding and the drive and vision to take Amazon.com Data Center Operations to the next level. The successful candidate will have experience managing people with varying skillsets, devising strategies, mentoring people in all levels, sponsoring projects, and proposing technical solutions. The successful candidate will be operationally responsible for several of Amazon.com's Data Centers during the Overnight Shift (9pm
- 7am).
- Prioritize and assign trouble tickets to data center technicians and operators
- Routinely review ticket queue for large events and address accordingly
- Coordinate change management resources
- Guide, train and educate data staff on the best practices related to all service owner issues
- Manage and deliver mid-size projects
- Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and to meet required SLAs
- Manage a diverse team of data technicians with varying skills
- Provide weekly report to the data center manager
- Maintain the on-call schedule coordinating absence and vacations
- Recruit and train data technicians to ensure appropriate staffing levels
- Host weekly staff meetings
- Write and deliver performance reviews for staff About the team AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.
- 2+ years of people management experience
- 3+ years of Information Technology (IT) experience, or Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent
- 2+ years of operations and on-call support for data center facilities, mission critical plants, or production facilities, or 1+ years of operations and on-call support for data center facilities, mission critical plants, or production facilities experience
- Work a permanent night shift schedule
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in project or program management
- 1+ years of data center experience
- Experience with project management
- Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
- Meets/exceeds Amazon's leadership principles requirements for this role
- Meets/exceeds Amazon's functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
