Summary:
Responsible for managing and supporting all network data systems in the administrative operations of the District. Develops, implements, and evaluates a long-range plan for the application of data systems in all District instructional and administrative programs. Coordinates the work of the Data Management Specialist and provides guidance, and back up as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Interacts with Central Office Administrators to assist with data analysis needs such as, but not limited to: future project planning, enrollment projections, policy governance, and ad-hoc data analysis, with a heavy focus on student data analysis, performance, and demographic data. Ensures data compliance requirements by maintaining documentation and developing appropriate protocols. Supports district data systems and database applications. Verifies District compliance with required DOE data collections and submissions. Maintains data integrity of information within district data systems, inclusive of, but not limited to, the following software management systems: Student Information System Learning Management System SBAC Test Results and Tide System Food & Nutrition Database Library/Media Software Special Education Database Inventory Database Alumni Database Room Reservation System Emergency Broadcast System SQL Server Reporting Platform Schedules, coordinates, and implements data integrations across district data systems. Identifies critical data system projects and issues, and prioritizes all outstanding requests. Communicates top projects and issues regularly with the IT Systems Director. Recommends changes to improve District operational efficiency. Maintains a comprehensive schedule of work to be done on a weekly, monthly, and yearly basis. Provides leadership toward District technology data initiatives including related purchases and planning. Reviews all District database software requests and recommends appropriate purchases. Establishes and maintains a process to monitor and keep district individuals informed of evolving technologies, implications, and costs. Serves as a project manager, including setting the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of all data and data related contracted services. Applies an understanding of Microsoft (MS)
SQL, SQL
Management Studio, and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) in order to provide regular reports to the Administrative team and other stakeholders regarding educational data metrics. Oversee the work of the Data Management Specialist and provide backup and cross training as needed. Provides overall leadership to all District and school administrative assistant staff for data systems and provides training on relevant District data programs to ensure data integrity and uniformity across all data systems as needed. Leads, coordinates, and documents the progress gained during the Data/Student Information System group meeting as needed. Remains current on relevant data subject matter. Attends and actively participates in all District technology-based meetings and in external training as needed or requested. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and/or
Experience:
A minimum of an Associate's Degree in data management or an equivalent industry certification for data management preferred. Five or more years of experience in data management, data analysis, data mining/business intelligence, data warehousing, and windows networking concepts desired. Knowledge of MS-SQL server and T-SQL, Microsoft products (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, Publisher, and Microsoft Office 365), and Google Apps are essential. Experience implementing data sync API's between hosted data systems.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
MCDBA, PMP, Project+, Certified Analytics Professional or equivalent licensure desired.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Computer experience (Windows PC, Mac, and file server system management) in a multi-site, team oriented environment. Ability to manipulate data text files, including: .csv files, using tools like Excel, Powershell, VB for importing/exporting between data systems. Excellent organizational and project management skills. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field. Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and School Board policies. Must be able to keep high levels of confidentiality in all aspects of job performance.
