13 paid days per year Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript). 3 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems. 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role. 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
Preferred qualifications:
Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. 3 years of experience working in a matrixed organization. Experience in large-scale data processing. About the job Dataflow is Google Cloud Platform (GCP's) highly differentiated data processing product for both batch and streaming data and a core component of the Data Cloud. It is Google's proprietary execution engine for the Apache Beam Software Development Kit (SDK). The Dataflow team has a history of innovation in the data processing space including MapReduce (OSDI Paper), Flume (PLDI Paper), MillWheel (VLDB Paper), and Dataflow (VLDB Paper, Forrester Recognition). Our goal is to realize the "data processing as a service": easy-to-use and arbitrarily scalable execution of user code. Dataflow has numerous customers including many of GCP's top accounts, recent blog posts that highlight Dataflow's customer value. Responsibilities Lead and manage a talented team of 8 engineers, shaping each individual's career growth, and fostering high-performance culture. Define and execute Dataflow Streaming strategy and roadmap for Seattle team in partnership with other Dataflow leads and cross-functional partners (e.g., PMs, SREs). Lead the design and development of a scalable, reliable streaming platform. Ensure Dataflow is seamlessly integrated with key products like BigQuery, GCS, Pub/Sub, and Kafka. Provide expert technical guidance and build an understanding of Dataflow's Streaming internals to effectively mentor executive engineers and drive architectural choices.
