POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Data Center Operations is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of data center facilities across a regional portfolio. This leader will drive operational excellence through strong leadership in project management, client relations, and market development. This role ensures high standards in safety, security, financial performance, materials management, and service delivery. This position provides strategic direction, supports organizational growth, and guides managers in achieving operational goals while maintaining efficiency and customer satisfaction.

RESPONSIBILITIESOversee multiple concurrent projects, ensuring deadlines are met and uptime is maintainedCollaborate proactively with clients on data center infrastructure initiativesManage technical operations including MEP systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing), HVAC, security, and facility systemsFoster a culture of safety, security, compliance, and transparencyCoordinate with internal teams to ensure consistent service deliveryEstablish and enforce quality standards across teamsDirect operations and engineering personnel to ensure adherence to processes and proceduresConduct audits of maintenance procedures (MOPs), SOPs, and change management activitiesMonitor and report operational metrics to track performance and efficiencyCoordinate activities across multiple sites and drive issue resolutionContribute to client solutions, including cost estimates and efficiency improvementsBuild and maintain strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholdersProvide oversight across Environmental Health & Safety, Security, Finance, and Regional OperationsEXPECTATIONSLead with a focus on operational efficiency, safety, and service excellenceDemonstrate strong decision-making and strategic thinking capabilitiesEffectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environmentDeliver high-quality results with attention to detail and accuracyAct as a coach and mentor to team members and managersMaintain professionalism and strong communication with clients and stakeholdersAdapt quickly to changing business needs and operational demandsTravel as needed to support regional operationsKEY SKILLSStrong project management and multi-project coordinationAdvanced analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communicationCustomer-focused mindset with strong relationship-building abilitiesLeadership and team development capabilitiesAbility to work independently and within teamsOrganizational skills and attention to detailProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Ability to create presentations and communicate effectively with stakeholdersKnowledge of regulatory requirements and data center operational standards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree (or equivalent experience) Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in data center or critical environment operations Expertise in MEP infrastructure, including: UPS systemsEmergency generatorsCooling systems and HVACElectrical distribution systemsUnderstanding of redundancy configurations and system limitations Experience in multi-tenant data center environments Strong customer service skills Demonstrated ability in time management, planning, and prioritization
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 50lbs. Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipmentAbility to stand for long periods of time in various work environmentsAbility to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment related tasksBasic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas quicklyAbility to move quickly and efficiently withing various work environments to troubleshoot issues or respond to emergencies. Compensation & Benefits DisclosureThe base salary range for this role is $120,000-$140,000 per year. This range reflects a good-faith estimate of what we reasonably expect to pay upon hire, based on factors such as skills, experience, education, and market/location. Our comprehensive benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, Health Savings Account (HSA), gym discount, mental health, Discounted Group Life & AD&D, Discounted Group Short & Long-term Disability, 401(k) retirement matching, PTO/paid holidays, and parental leave. Final compensation will be determined by job-related factors consistent with applicable law.
