The Planning and Development Department (PDD) is a city department of over 500 employees across five main Divisions:
Business & Strategy, Planning, Historic Preservation, Plan Review, and Inspections. The Planning & Development Department guides the physical development of the city by preserving our historic sites, planning what can be built where, and ensuring safe construction of buildings and infrastructure. A host of advisory and governing bodies of residents as well as elected officials provide oversight as the city grows and needs arise. The process is governed through development and enforcement of city codes and ordinances. PDD is seeking a customer service orientated individual with knowledge of real estate, title, or escrow processes to join their team as a Property Records Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician. A Property Records GIS Technician is responsible for maintaining the department's citywide property ownership database and providing responsive, professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders. Typical duties include responding to customer requests and inquiries, reviewing property legal descriptions, mapping and approving parcel related permits, processing lot splits and combinations, and entering new subdivisions into City systems. Additional assignments may include assisting with map requests and updating various GIS layers and datasets. Customer service experience and familiarity with real estate, title, or escrow processes are strongly desired. IDEAL CANDIDATE
Familiarity with municipal permitting or land management processes. Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS and other GIS software. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and the public. SALARY Pay Range:
$24.93 to $44.77 per hour. Hiring Range:

Associate's degree or equivalent course work at a technical or vocational school, in geographic information systems, geography, planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, computer science, or a related field. OR Two years of experience working with geographic information systems. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted. All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position. Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage. The minimum qualifications listed above, plus: Experience working in property records, real estate, title and escrow, or a related field. Experience using ESRI ArcGIS software. Experience editing and maintaining polygon GIS data. Experience researching and documenting property chain of title. GIS experience working with parcel level data. Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers. Experience reading and interpreting subdivision plat maps and legal property descriptions Experience drawing parcel boundaries using Coordinate geometry (COGO). RECRUITMENT DATES
