GIS TECHNICIAN

Ideal Candidate Demonstrates strong technical proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), including experience with enterprise GIS platforms, permitting systems, and asset management tools. Possesses the ability to create, maintain, and analyze maps, tables, graphs, and other geographically referenced data with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Skilled in collecting, organizing, and managing spatial and non-spatial data from a variety of sources. Effectively performs both office-based and fieldwork assignments, including data verification and field data collection. Provides clear, accurate, and timely technical support and data analysis to internal staff, external agencies, consultants, contractors, developers, and the public. Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to query, interpret, and present complex data sets. Communicates technical information clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, to a wide range of audiences with varying levels of technical expertise. Works collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders while maintaining a high level of customer service. Manages multiple priorities and assignments effectively, meeting deadlines in a dynamic work environment. Education and Experience:

MINIMUM:

60 semester or 90 quarter units from an accredited college with major coursework in geography, computer science, engineering, geographic information systems, or a related field, and one (1) year of GIS or automated mapping experience. Relevant technical experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERRED

In addition to the minimum, additional years of experience as described above. Valid certification through CASQA as a Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD).

Licenses and Certification:

Ability to obtain a valid California Class C driver's license within ten (10) days of employment; must maintain license throughout employment.

Special Requirements:

Must successfully complete a thorough background investigation, which may include Live Scan fingerprinting, prior to hire. DMV printout required prior to hire. May be required to file Statements of Economic Interest with the Yuba County Clerk/Recorder. Will be required to perform disaster service activities pursuant to Government Code 3100-3109.
