Description The Kentucky Office of Homeland Security carries out multiple missions mandated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as well as the Kentucky General Assembly. KOHS offers first responder training; seminars about personal safety; Neighborhood Watch support; management of Eye on Kentucky; assistance to Citizen Emergency Response Teams; and guidance against violence for business and industry. KOHS ensures a multi-agency collaboration ranging from KOHS and Kentucky State Police intelligence analysts with GIS capabilities to the Missing and Exploited Child Center to providing secure work areas for various federal, state and local law- enforcement agencies as needed. The
GIS ANALYST III
is responsible for geographic information system (GIS) hardware and software to perform advanced technical GIS activities for the Kentucky 911 Services Board. The position provides expertise in the analysis of spatial data and the production of map products and develops geospatial applications for automation using scripting language requiring complex coding for Next Gen 911. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Uses existing GIS software to capture and manage spatial data. Oversees quality analysis review on data. Compiles, inputs, modifies, and enhances computer maps. Initiates reviews of existing or new digital map products and prioritizes update schedule. Provides user support and training for geographic database and mapping software; creates curriculum and teaches classes in classroom and remote settings. Responsible for complex technical support and analysis in back-end maintenance of GIS implementations. Provides expert level user support for GIS applications. Advises agency leadership on matters relating to the use of GIS for policy decisions. Provides advanced user support and training for geographic database and map systems. Automates complex map production showing spatial analyses results. Some travel is required. Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree. Applicant must have successfully completed six semester hours in computer science, data processing, or geographic information system courses.

Three years experience in a technology or GIS-related field. Substitute
