Water Program Engineer & GIS Manager Job Summary:
Water Programs Engineering and GIS Manager supports the Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract for the U.S. Department of Energy Environmental Management Los Alamos Field Office. The Water Program includes surface water monitoring and corrective actions, groundwater monitoring, and environmental well drilling. Work is conducted across the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Northern New Mexico. In this position you will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner; will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety and security an integral part of every task including taking the necessary steps to stop work if it is deemed unsafe or compromises security.Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Assists in recruiting. interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead engineering team (civil and environmental engineers) and GIS team, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Provide support to the surface water monitoring, groundwater monitoring, drilling, and other environmental remediation project teams, and coordinate with managers to prioritize work.
- Act as the primary interface with internal and external clients for engineering support.
- Act as the primary point of contact with client's engineering services to ensure engineering projects are performed to appropriate standards and procedures and meet or exceed the clients' expectations.
- Responsible for maintaining survey equipment, maintaining AutoCAD licenses, and ensuring access to ArcGIS Pro.
- Support the surface water project manager with providing the definition, planning, cost, and execution of the NPDES Individual Permit corrective action projects, including small self-performed projects and large subcontracted construction projects.
- Manage timesheet approvals, time-off requests, performance reviews, and training requirements and completion.
- Work with the GIS Team Lead regarding the GIS Team's needs and staffing issues.
- Generate job descriptions and postings, manage interviews, and coordinate on-boarding for the teams as needed.
- Ensure Teams' compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Regularly report on teams' deliverable progress.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to use AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Ability to manage team member's project work.
- Skill and ability to perform complex tasks with minimal supervision or guidance.
- Organizes own work to meet established objectives.
- Level of language, mathematical, communication, computer, and reasoning skills necessary to perform essential job functions.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented project environment.
- Familiarity with Los Alamos National Laboratory and work environment preferred.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer licensure.
- Career level of the position will be determined by the number of years of relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Environmental Professional Surface Water Monitoring I Job Summary:
Environmental Professional (Surface Water Monitoring supports the Storm Water and Surface Water Monitoring Projects under the N3B Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract (LLCC). The Environmental Professional will be responsible for the completion of field work, including collection of storm and surface water samples, completion of sample paperwork, maintenance of sampling equipment and storm water controls, maintenance of surface water gaging stations, site inspections and construction verifications and/or documentation of work completed, data entry, and coordination with T2S subcontractors supporting these projects. The Environmental Professional will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner; will maintain required safety, security and all operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to pause or stop work if continuing the task is unsafe or compromises security.Duties/Responsibilities:
- Collection of storm & surface water samples, and maintenance of sample collection equipment and storm water controls.
- Operation and maintenance of stream gaging stations including routine inspections, troubleshooting equipment, and flow measurements as applicable.
- Completion of field work, including site inspections and construction verifications and/or documenting work completed.
- Maintain quality control throughout the sample collection process.
- Provide oversight and occasional audits of subcontractors.
- Ability to coordinate with, and willingness to take direction from project leads as required.
- Support the project with requesting site access, data entry, and report preparation, as needed.
- Comply with all health & safety policies and practices.
- Other duties in support of the Water Program as assigned.

- Experience and certification in Sediment and Erosion Control preferred.
- Familiarity with Fluvial geomorphology preferred.
- Familiarity with storm water best management practices (BMPs) preferred.
- Familiarity with the LANL site and work environment preferred.
- A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Drilling Field Team Lead I Job Summary:
This position is a critical subcontractor on the N3B Los Alamos LLC team and will be providing program management and technical services in support of the ground & surface water monitoring program at the U.S. Department of Energy's Los Alamos National Laboratory.Team Lead Responsibilities:
- Oversee drilling/well activities including acting as Person in Charge.
- Oversee the drilling/pump subcontractor's activities (Drilling and Sampling System Repairs).
- Prepare daily field reports detailing work activities performed on-site at the end of each shift.
- Interface with site visitors (QA, Engineering, SWPPP, Operations, Stakeholders).
- Conduct daily ESH tailgates.
- Update Project Management Team on progress of field activities.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable project plans and regulatory requirements.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with Project Manager for oversight of the field activities including event notification, site access and field communications.
- Oversee execution of plans of the day and maintain detailed technical logbook records of all daily field activities.
- Coordinate waste management support.
- Coordinate sampling in support of site characterization and waste characterization.
- Assist with generating reports and project records.
- Provide support for oversight and random audits of the subcontractors by prime contractor.
- Complies with all health & safety policies and practices.
- Act as site environment, health and safety representative.
- Coordinate collection of drill cuttings during drilling activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Broad understanding of principles, concepts and techniques in the field of general science; groundwater remediation or drilling/well expertise preferred.
- Skill and ability to perform complex professional tasks independently with little instruction.
- Ability to work within established policies and procedures, using independent judgment and ingenuity.
- Ability to train and mentor more junior staff.
