Job Description

Position Overview:
Rangefront Mining Services is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled GIS Geologist to provide GIS and land support for mineral exploration projects. This role will support field operations including soil sampling, claim staking, and other exploration activities by managing spatial data, conducting land research, and delivering high-quality mapping and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in GIS, solid understanding of land management principles, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. The selected candidate must be located in or willing to relocate to the Elko, NV area.
Key Responsibilities:
GIS Data Management & Analysis Create, edit, and manage GIS datasets using ESRI software (ArcGIS Pro/ArcMap) Design, maintain, and organize geodatabases for project use Collect, process, digitize, and convert spatial data, including GPS datasets Perform georeferencing and digitization of scanned maps, images, and legacy data Maintain data accuracy, consistency, and organization across projects Mapping & Reporting Generate maps, reports, and graphics for internal teams and client deliverables Support visualization of geological and spatial data for decision-making Assist with preparation of technical documentation and report writing Field & Operations Support Provide GIS support to field crews performing soil sampling, claim staking, and exploration work Collaborate with field teams to ensure accurate spatial data collection and integration Land & Title Research Conduct active mining claim research and validation Perform land ownership research, including: Mineral rights Water rights Surface rights Interpret and work with Master Title Plats (MTPs) and related land records
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field Minimum 3 years of GIS and data management experience Working knowledge of mineral exploration, land systems, or geologic principles Experience with report writing and technical documentation AAPL certification (RL, RPL, or CPL) preferred
Technical Skills:
Required ArcGIS Pro ArcMap Strong understanding of projections and datums Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) Survey123
Preferred Garmin BaseCamp Global Mapper Google Earth Core Competencies:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities Clear and professional communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong time management and ability to handle multiple priorities
Work Environment:
Office-based with regular coordination with field teams Occasional field support may be required depending on project needs Fast-paced environment supporting multiple exploration projects
