Job Description

Role Overview Windwave is seeking a GIS/CAD Technician to support fiber network construction by developing and maintaining accurate drafting and mapping documentation. This role works closely with field teams, construction management, and program controls to ensure fiber routes, GIS mapping, and as-built records are accurate and up to date. This is an entry-to-mid level technical role with strong growth potential for candidates interested in telecommunications infrastructure and network design. What You'll Do Create and update CAD drawings for fiber routes and outside plant (OSP) infrastructure Maintain GIS mapping updates and position documentation Develop and maintain as-built drawings for completed construction projects Review field redlines and incorporate changes into final drawings Coordinate with field teams to verify routing, splicing, and installation data Maintain documentation within mapping and internal systems Organize and maintain digital project documentation Assist with permit drawings and construction packet preparation Perform quality control checks on mapping and drafting data What We're Looking For 1-3 years of CAD drafting, GIS mapping, or technical drawing experience Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar CAD software Basic understanding of GIS mapping systems Ability to read and interpret construction drawings Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines Strong communication and organizational skills Preferred Associate's degree in GIS, Cartography, Drafting, Computer Science, or related field Telecommunications, fiber, or construction industry exposure Work Environment Office-based technical role collaborating with construction, engineering, and field teams. Limited field visits may occasionally be required to verify project details or support construction activities.
