Job Description
Who you are:
In your personal life you enjoy the outdoors- whether it be backpacking, hiking, hunting, fishing, or skiing.
What the job is:
The Geospatial Analyst supports the Sr. Geospatial Scientist in property-scale geospatial analysis, spatial modeling, and reporting that underpins Green Diamond's Habitat Conservation Plans (HCP), Safe Harbor Agreement, and other landscape agreements, along with the scientific monitoring and research arising from those agency partnerships. The position applies GIS tools, Python scripting, remote sensing, drone-based imagery, and LiDAR to planning efforts including watershed studies, property-wide TMDLs, and wildlife and fisheries monitoring programs. The work involves large spatial datasets and production geospatial workflows across the ownership, collaborating with Biologists, Botanists, Geologists, and Operations personnel. Here are some examples of the work this role will do: Conduct geospatial analysis of forestry-operation effects on wildlife, plants, and ecosystems; extract and prepare spatial and tabular data for mandated HCP and regulatory reporting. Collaborate on geospatial scripting, tool development, and AI-assisted workflow projects using both external and internal resources. Contribute to the development of habitat suitability and other spatial models, including machine learning and AI techniques, in support of Conservation Planning goals. Plan, execute, and process drone-based imagery collection for monitoring, modeling, and project evaluation, including AI-based image classification where applicable. Assist with study design, data analysis, interpretation, and writing scientific papers and technical reports. Develop and maintain database management systems and geospatial data pipelines; serve as on-site resource for GIS hardware, software, and scripting environments. Evaluate and apply AI and machine learning tools to geospatial analysis and imagery workflows and help guide their responsible use within the department. If there are aspects of this job that would be new for you, we will help you learn and expand your knowledge into other areas of the department. Our goal is for you to have a long-term career here with our company. Where you'll work: Experience Northern California at its best as you work across nearly 400,000 acres of Green Diamond's privately held forestlands in Humboldt, Del Norte, and Mendocino counties. Based in Korbel, you'll be surrounded by redwoods and just minutes from the Pacific ocean—an unbeatable setting for fieldwork, collaboration, and life outside the office.Compensation Details:
This position comes with annual pay range depending on experience of $71,048 to $106,572. The pay is just one part of Green Diamond's total compensation package.
