GIS Analyst/Drafting Specialist Summary:
The GIS Analyst/Drafting Specialist executes advanced Geographic Information System (GIS) and drafting assignments, providing critical support and expertise in spatial data management, analysis, and output generation. This role involves automating processes using Python, managing a comprehensive GIS database, and providing specialized support, particularly related to fiber network inventory within a telecommunication Outside Plant (OSP) environment. The specialist is also expected to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to facilitate code writing, refine scripting, and continuously improve process efficiency.Core Responsibilities:
•GIS Execution and Mentorship:
Execute advanced GIS/drafting assignments, adhering to organizational standards. Apply expertise to resolve moderately complex problems and mentor junior staff in issue resolution. •GIS Analysis and Automation:
Provide comprehensive GIS analysis and support to internal departments. Utilize advanced Python scripting to automate GIS processes, improving efficiency and data quality. •Fiber Network Support:
Assist in the inventory of fiber network features, including updating splice connections and creating circuit paths using the Telecommunication-3GIS online platform. •Data Management and Database Design:
Gather, analyze, and integrate diverse spatial data to determine optimal GIS display methods. Design and update the GIS database, leveraging in-depth knowledge of spatial feature representation and data topology. •Spatial Analysis and Research:
Analyze complex spatial relationships across different data types and sources. Conduct research to identify and acquire necessary existing GIS features or datasets. •Reporting and Documentation:
Compile and analyze GIS and tabular data from multiple sources, producing clear, usable reports. Document, tag, and securely store historical project data in compliance with departmental standards. •User Collaboration and Output:
Collaborate with users to define data requirements, project needs, and application development. Prepare specialized maps and diagrams based on GIS data. Manage file outputs (moving, copying, deleting, and adding files) for hard copy or electronic transfer, including converting electronic files to PDF and uploading to the File Management Database.Minimum Education and Experience:
• Associate's degree or position-related certifications. • Four or more years of relevant professional work experience.EEO:
