Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a hands-on IT Manager to lead and support all aspects of technology operations for a growing engineering-focused firm. This role is ideal for a highly organized, service-oriented professional who can independently manage infrastructure, cybersecurity, user support, vendor relationships, and strategic technology planning. This role requires a strategic thinker with extensive technical expertise and strong leadership capabilities. The IT Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business objectives through innovative technology solutions, maintain system integrity, and promote best practices in IT service management. Duties Develop and execute comprehensive IT strategies aligned with organizational goals, including infrastructure, security, and disaster recovery planning. Manage and oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of servers, networks, databases, and cloud services such as AWS and Azure. Lead the administration of virtualization platforms including VMware and vSphere to optimize resource utilization. Ensure the security of all systems through effective network security measures, firewalls, Active Directory management, and information security protocols. Oversee vendor relationships for hardware, software, and cloud services; negotiate contracts; and manage procurement processes. Supervise technical support teams providing desktop support, remote access assistance, and troubleshooting for hardware/software issues. Implement ITIL best practices for incident management, problem resolution, change management, and service delivery. Monitor network performance using tools like SolarWinds; support LAN/WAN infrastructure; manage Cisco routers; and ensure reliable connectivity. Coordinate IT projects utilizing Agile methodologies; manage timelines with tools such as Jira; and ensure project deliverables meet quality standards. Lead business continuity planning initiatives including disaster recovery strategies to minimize downtime during disruptions. Maintain compliance with IT governance standards; oversee database management including SQL Server and SharePoint; and ensure data integrity. Facilitate training sessions to enhance staff understanding of cybersecurity policies, new technologies, and software applications. Experience Proven experience in managing enterprise IT environments with a minimum of ten years in leadership roles. Extensive knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure along with virtualization technologies like VMware vSphere. Strong background in network engineering including Cisco routers, LAN/WAN architecture, DHCP/DNS configuration, and remote access solutions. Proficiency in server management using Microsoft Windows Server (including Active Directory) and Linux operating systems. Demonstrated expertise in database administration for Microsoft SQL Server; familiarity with SharePoint deployment is advantageous. Skilled in project management methodologies including Agile; capable of leading multiple initiatives simultaneously. Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. #tech_indeed
