QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a technology-related field preferred; Master's degree in Educational Technology or IT Leadership preferred 2. CoSN Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL) preferred or required within 2 years of hire; Technical certifications (e.g., CISSP, ITIL, PMP, or Cisco) preferred 3. Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in technology, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial role preferred; Proven experience managing enterprise-level applications (specifically Infinite Campus and Skyward) and complex network infrastructure

POSITION SUMMARY
To provide strategic vision and innovative leadership in shaping the district's digital landscape. This role ensures that technology systems are reliable, secure, and purposefully integrated to support student achievement, equitable access and operational excellence.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Governance Multi-Year Roadmap:
Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy and long-range plan aligned with district strategic goals.
Cabinet Partnership:
Serve as a thought partner and principal advisor to the Superintendent and Board on technology investments, emerging trends (including AI integration), and risk management.
Policy Development:
Lead the creation and enforcement of Board policies regarding acceptable use, social/legal technology ethics, and digital safety.
Liaison Duties:
Act as the primary technical liaison to feeder schools, regional offices of education, and community foundations.
Instructional & Educational Technology Digital Learning Culture:
Collaborate with curriculum leaders to infuse innovative technologies into classrooms, supporting inquiry-based and student-driven learning.
Evaluation of Licensed Staff:
Contribute to the evaluation of instructional coaches with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
Professional Development:
Oversee district-wide training programs for faculty and staff on instructional tools, administrative systems, and data fluency.
Infrastructure, Cybersecurity & Operations Network & Cloud Reliability:
Oversee the design and maintenance of LAN/WAN/WiFi infrastructure, server hardware, and cloud-based systems (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS).
Cybersecurity Strategy:
Lead a robust cybersecurity program including threat analysis, incident response, multi-layered security (Zero Trust), and regular penetration testing.
Disaster Recovery:
Maintain and test business continuity and disaster recovery plans to ensure minimal downtime for critical school operations.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure strict compliance with CIPA, SOPPA, FERPA, and HIPAA through content filtering and data vetting.
Enterprise Systems & Data Analytics System Administration:
Oversee the performance and security of Infinite Campus (SIS) and Skyward (HR/Finance).
Data Intelligence:
Build and manage warehousing, mining, and visualization systems (e.g., DecisionEd) to support data-informed decision-making.
State Reporting:
Ensure the accuracy and timely submission of all mandated state and federal reports (ISBE, CRDC, etc.).
Fiscal & Personnel Management Supervision and Evaluation of Staff:
Serve as the primary supervisor and evaluator for staff members within the Technology Services Department.
Budgeting:
Develop and manage technology budgets, including capital expenditures, E-Rate funding, and lifecycle projections.
Vendor Management:
Lead RFP processes, negotiate complex contracts, and manage high-value vendor relationships.
Asset Management:
Oversee the procurement, inventory, and responsible disposal of all district technology assets.
Physical Demands & Work Environment Physical Activity:
Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and reach. Must be able to occasionally lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Visual/Manual Skills:
Requires close vision and manual dexterity for computer work and the ability to withstand long-term use of video display terminals.
Noise & Conditions:
Exposure to moderate-to-high noise levels in server rooms, hallways, and cafeterias.
Availability:
Must be able to work irregular or extended hours, including evenings and weekends, to respond to systems malfunctions or security breaches.
