Effective immediately. About the Role The Director of Technology serves on the school's leadership team, providing direction for all technology systems and services to support teaching and learning. Responsibilities span strategic planning, infrastructure management, data security, and direct technical support. Experience in the education sector is a plus.Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Procurement:
Partner with the Technology Committee to develop a rolling Technology Plan, overseeing IT budgeting, vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and hardware procurement. Generate a Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity plan and present an annual report to the Board of Directors.Policy & Instructional Partnership:
Develop and enforce foundational guidelines, including Acceptable Use Policies (AUPs), Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) agreements, and a comprehensive AI policy. Partner directly with teachers to evaluate and integrate educational technology effectively into the curriculum. Support school administration in upholding academic integrity. Utilize network tools, system analytics, and surveillance camera footage to assist leadership in resolving inquiries related to digital policies, student technology use, and student conduct.Infrastructure & Security:
Research, implement, and maintain wired and wireless networks, servers, telecommunications, classroom instructional technology (including interactive digital whiteboards, projectors, and audio systems), and campus-wide printing stations. Oversee physical security technologies, including access controls and surveillance cameras. Direct comprehensive cybersecurity strategies, conduct vulnerability assessments, ensureFERPA/CIPA
compliance, and lead active incident response to mitigate network emergencies, including malware or virus attacks.Systems & Asset Management:
Oversee the student information system (SIS), learning management system (LMS), and administrative data and decision support systems. Assess current communication systems and implement intuitive, high-adoption platforms to optimize contact management and foster a secure digital school community. Oversee the technical backend, hosting infrastructure, and security of the school's public website, collaborating with relevant staff on content updates. Manage the school's existing fleet of shared laptops and develop a strategic roadmap for implementing a future 1:1 student device program. Maintain an accurate asset inventory and manage the setup, distribution, collection, and repair of all school-owned hardware. Evaluate and vet all AI-powered tools prior to deployment. Serve as the Data Security Coordinator.Academic Support & Reporting:
Advise Academic Advising on master scheduling and enrollment tracking. Manage the generation of official transcripts and digital student portfolios. Develop frameworks to track post-secondary outcomes (college admissions, scholarships). Direct the technical infrastructure, network stability, and device readiness for all high-stakes digital standardized testing platforms, including state-mandated exams, college entrance assessments, and advanced academic credentialing programs. Assist in data collection for state/federal Department of Education reports. Manage the complete E-Rate funding cycle and apply for additional grants.Training & End-User Support:
Provide daily technical support for students and staff, including troubleshooting assistance for students utilizing personal laptops. Track and manage IT requests through an internal system, while ensuring the community can easily access immediate, drop-in help. Coordinate technology training, including professional development to promote AI literacy. Operate A/V equipment and provide direct technical support during school meetings, assemblies, and select after-hours events.Other Duties:
Perform other duties as directed by the Executive Director.Qualifications Experience:
Proven, hands-on experience in IT infrastructure, networking, and systems administration. While an Associate Degree and 3 years of experience is our standard baseline, highly capable professionals with a track record of managing complex systems are strongly encouraged to apply.Certifications:
Relevant, active professional certifications (such as CCNA, Network+, Security+, CISSP) or cloud administration certifications (Google Workspace Administrator, Microsoft 365 Certified) are highly preferred in lieu of a formal degree. The Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL) credential is a strong plus.Technical Skills:
Expertise in managing cloud-based productivity suites, Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms (e.g., Jamf, Intune, Google Admin), student information systems (SIS), and enterprise network architecture.Core Competencies:
Strong written and oral communication skills, a proactive approach with clear leadership qualities, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
