Job Description

Information Technology (IT) Manager Position Summary Austin Fire Systems is seeking an IT Manager to lead and support the company's technology operations. This role is responsible for the overall health, security, and performance of the organization's IT environment while ensuring technology effectively supports our engineering, construction, inspection, maintenance, and field service operations. The IT Manager will provide both strategic leadership and hands-on technical oversight. This individual will lead the company's technology operations, oversee cybersecurity initiatives, manage technology vendors and business systems, and drive continuous improvement across infrastructure, applications, and support services. As Austin Fire Systems continues its expansion across the Gulf South, the IT Manager will play a key role in ensuring the company's technology infrastructure, security posture, and business systems scale to support continued growth. This role reports directly to executive leadership and serves as the primary technology leader for the organization. The ideal candidate is a servant leader who can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel, prioritize business needs, and align technology investments with organizational goals. Our services include engineering, construction, inspection, maintenance, and 24/7 emergency support for fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, security systems, gas detection, safety equipment, and related technologies. Our team supports customers in a wide range of commercial, industrial, and mission-critical environments where safety, compliance, and reliability are essential. Technology plays a critical role in supporting our field operations, customer service, compliance reporting, project delivery, and continued growth. Essential Responsibilities Leadership & Management Lead the company's internal IT function and serve as the primary technology leader for the organization. Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT team. Establish IT standards, policies, procedures, and best practices. Develop and execute technology roadmaps aligned with business objectives. Partner with executive leadership to identify opportunities where technology can improve operational efficiency, customer service, and business performance. Manage relationships with technology vendors, consultants, and service providers. Develop and manage IT budgets, forecasts, and technology investment plans. Foster a culture of accountability, service excellence, continuous improvement, and cybersecurity awareness. Infrastructure & Operations Oversee the administration and maintenance of servers, networks, wireless infrastructure, cloud services, and end-user devices. Ensure reliable and secure operation of business-critical systems. Manage Microsoft 365 and related collaboration platforms. Monitor system performance, availability, backups, and disaster recovery readiness. Support multiple office and field locations as required. Cybersecurity & Risk Management Lead cybersecurity initiatives and promote a security-first culture. Manage endpoint protection, vulnerability management, access controls, and security monitoring. Develop and maintain incident response and business continuity procedures. Ensure compliance with applicable security, regulatory, and customer requirements. Conduct periodic risk assessments and security awareness training. Business Systems & Process Improvement Partner with department leaders to identify opportunities for process improvement through technology. Support operational systems used by engineering, construction, inspection, maintenance, and service teams. Evaluate and implement technology solutions that improve efficiency, reporting, and customer service. Maintain documentation of systems, processes, and network architecture. Qualifications Required 5+ years of progressively responsible IT experience. Demonstrated experience leading projects, initiatives, or technical teams. Experience developing IT strategies, standards, and operational processes. Experience administering Microsoft 365, Windows environments, and enterprise networking. Working knowledge of Cisco networking and wireless technologies. Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, organizational, and leadership skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Preferred Experience supporting construction, engineering, industrial, manufacturing, or field-service organizations. Experience managing IT vendors and technology budgets. Familiarity with ERP, project management, service management, compliance reporting, or other operational business systems. Industry certifications such as CCNA, Security+, CISSP, Microsoft, or related certifications. Success Factors A proactive problem solver who takes ownership of outcomes. Travel Requirements Occasional travel to Austin Fire Systems offices and operational locations throughout the Gulf South may be required. $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
