Job Description
Summary For more information on the Department of Justice and the United States Attorneys' Offices, visit http://www.justice.gov/usao/. As needed, additional positions may be filled using this announcement. Responsibilities If selected for this position, you will serve as the District Information Technology (IT) Manager responsible for providing technical and analytical assistance involving three or more IT specialty areas, which support the information management needs of the United States Attorney's Office ( USAO ), Western District of Missouri. The environment encompasses a significant number of users within the USAO , many of whom may be located in geographically distant branch offices. IT administration responsibilities are considered complex in terms of communications limitations, the need to modify standard systems to resolve hardware and software problems, and the need to adapt precedents or make significant departures from standardized approaches to meet user requirements.
Typical work assignments will include:
Establishing goals, objectives and procedures for staff and recommending formal promotions, awards and other personnel actions including disciplinary actions to resolve issues. Managing network to include maintenance of servers, workstations, printers, switches, communication gear and other peripherals. Evaluating work performance of subordinates. Monitoring network capacity, performance and functionality, security and integrity of internet services. Configuring and maintaining servers, hubs, routers and switches. Implementing policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability. Analyzing and resolving network problems. monitoring network capacity and performance. Ensuring integration of all systems components. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to meet basic qualifications for GS-2210 positions, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the competencies defined below: Attention to Detail- This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant keeps abreast of latest technology, information, research, etc., to maintain knowledge in field of expertise (for example, reads trade journals, participates in professional/technical associations, maintains credentials). - This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant promotes or develops and maintains good working relationships with key individuals or groups. Oral Communication
- This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant serves on panels, committees, or task forces as a representative for the organization on technical or professional issues. Problem Solving
- This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant monitors current trends or events (for example, technological, economic, political, social, educational, or employment trends or events) and applies the information as appropriate.
Specialized Experience:
Experience performing duties such as using information technology concepts, methods, standards and practices to evaluate and resolve hardware and software problems; provide user training and assistance on variety of routine applications; plan and improve information systems to meet the needs of customer requirements; troubleshoot end user computer hardware and software issues; configure, install, and maintain network systems including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers, workstation and mobile device troubleshooting and support, and related hardware; and maintain systems accounts with various enterprise software programs.
