Job Description
The Manager, CES Technical Services leads the execution, implementation, and ongoing technical support of IGS Energy's non‑commodity energy products and services for Commercial & Industrial (C&I) customers. This role is responsible for ensuring existing offerings operate reliably and at scale, while also helping CES design and stand up new services as the portfolio evolves. This is a hands‑on leadership role that combines people management, field execution, partner coordination, and internal technical consulting. The role balances operational rigor with adaptability, operating effectively in areas where delivery models, partners, or standards may still be emerging. The Manager works closely with CES leadership and cross‑functional partners, and serves as a trusted technical and delivery resource for C&I Sales leadership, helping ensure customer solutions are both technically sound and executable. Key Responsibilities Technical Services Leadership & Delivery Lead post‑contract execution for small‑to‑mid‑scale non‑commodity energy projects, including energy monitoring, load control, LED, EV charging, demand response, and related services. Maintain hands‑on involvement in field execution, site walks, installations, commissioning, and troubleshooting—particularly for new, complex, or non‑standard solutions. Ensure deployed systems meet technical, performance, safety, and quality standards. Serve as the escalation point for delivery issues, technical challenges, and partner performance concerns. People Management & Team Development Directly manage a Technical Lead and Technician at hire, with the expectation that the team may scale to include additional technicians over time. Establish clear priorities, performance expectations, and development plans for team members. Foster a culture of technical rigor, ownership, safety, and continuous improvement within Technical Services. Help shape the future team structure as CES offerings, volumes, and technical complexity grow. Partner & Vendor Coordination Coordinate with CES leadership, Development, Asset Management, and Operations to identify, evaluate, and manage external partners and installers. Oversee partner execution against defined scopes, schedules, service levels, and quality expectations. Maintain strong awareness of the energy services partner and competitor landscape, including integrators, controls providers, OEMs, and advisory firms. Support the evolution of partner models and delivery strategies as CES expands into new services. Internal Consulting, Sales & Customer Support Act as a technical and delivery advisor to C&I Sales, supporting solution shaping, feasibility assessment, and execution planning. Serve as a substantive technical resource for C&I leadership and the CES team on both established and emerging solution offerings. Support complex or non‑standard customer opportunities where solutions may not yet be fully productized or broadly understood. Participate selectively in customer discussions to build confidence in solution credibility and delivery capability. Operational & Program Development Help define and refine repeatable delivery models, standards, and best practices for existing CES offerings. Contribute to the stand‑up of new services by translating concepts into executable delivery frameworks. Identify operational gaps, technical risks, and improvement opportunities, and work with CES leadership to address them. Use field experience, metrics, and customer feedback to inform continuous improvement of products, processes, and delivery models. Qualifications Education & Certifications High School diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. Professional certifications related to energy, building systems, or sustainability strongly preferred (e.g., AEE Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or equivalent). Experience Not an entry‑level role. Requires demonstrated, hands‑on experience implementing and supporting advanced energy programs, products, or services in commercial or industrial environments. Proven track record delivering non‑commodity energy solutions through a mix of internal teams and external partners. Experience managing technical teams and coordinating field execution across multiple concurrent projects. Practical familiarity with energy brokers, integrators, and solution providers is strongly preferred. Experience operating in environments where offerings, partners, or delivery standards are evolving. Technical & Professional Skills Strong mechanical and technical aptitude, with working knowledge of: Electrical distribution systems and three‑phase power Power calculations, safety requirements, and basic networking/communication concepts Ability to diagnose system issues, assess root causes, and translate technical complexity into practical execution steps. Comfortable balancing independence with close coordination across CES leadership and cross‑functional teams. Leadership & Personal Attributes Hands‑on leader with deep execution credibility and sound judgment. Strong organizational and prioritization skills across multiple workstreams.
