This is a primarily remote position focused on strategic IT leadership, systems oversight, vendor management, security, infrastructure planning, and escalated support. Our company operates across 4 local locations with 120+ employees, including retail and warehouse operations. The environment includes physical servers, SQL databases, large inventory/item-count databases, Microsoft 365, networking infrastructure, and vendor-supported retail systems. The consultant will work closely with and direct our onsite IT Associate, who is available for day-to-day physical and in-person needs across our offices and warehouse operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys serving as a trusted IT advisor providing structure, best practices, and proactive planning to a business environment. Responsibilities Oversee company-wide IT infrastructure and technology operations Provide guidance and direction to onsite IT support staff Manage Microsoft 365 / email systems / user administration Oversee backups, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and system monitoring Manage vendors, software licensing, and IT service providers Assist with network, server, printer, and endpoint management Recommend technology improvements and cost-saving opportunities Support vendor supported retail technology systems as needed Handle escalated troubleshooting and major IT issues remotely Assist leadership with IT budgeting and planning Qualifications 5+ years of IT infrastructure or systems administration experience Strong knowledge of Microsoft environments, networking, backups, and cybersecurity Experience supporting small or medium-sized businesses Experience supporting environments with physical servers and SQL databases Experience managing or supporting larger inventory or ERP-style databases preferred Experience supporting multi-location operations with 100+ users preferred Ability to manage IT strategically without needing full-time onsite presence Strong communication and problem-solving skills Experience with warehouses, retail environments, or multi-location businesses is a plus Experience managing outside vendors and IT projects preferred Position Details Remote position with flexible scheduling Part-time or contract arrangement (hours negotiable) Occasional onsite visits may be requested Competitive compensation based on experience Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who can serve as a reliable long-term IT partner — proactive, organized, responsive.
