This role is ideal for a strong individual contributor with deep experience in networking, systems administration, and IT security who is ready to grow into an IT Manager position over time. This is not a traditional people-management role. We are looking for someone who enjoys being in the technical details, solving complex infrastructure issues, improving security posture, and taking ownership of enterprise IT operations. The right candidate will be a critical thinker who can independently identify problems, troubleshoot effectively, and implement scalable solutions with minimal hand-holding. This person will work closely with leadership and eventually serve as the successor to the current IT leadership function. Key Responsibilities IT Infrastructure & Operations Manage and maintain enterprise IT infrastructure including Windows servers, virtualized environments, and cloud platforms Support multi-location WAN/LAN environments and ensure network performance, uptime, and reliability Troubleshoot networking issues including WiFi, VPNs, firewalls, switching, routing, and device connectivity across multiple networks Administer and support Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive Maintain VMWare/Hyper-V virtualization environments and remote access platforms such as Citrix or Remote Desktop Services Manage backup systems, disaster recovery planning, and infrastructure monitoring Support VOIP telecommunications systems, mobile devices, printers, surveillance systems, and endpoint devices Monitor workstation and server performance and resolve hardware/software issues proactively IT Security & Compliance Strengthen and enforce cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices across the organization Monitor security risks, system vulnerabilities, and access controls across all infrastructure Maintain secure environments where devices, users, and software are properly controlled and locked down Support compliance initiatives, audits, and data protection requirements Partner with leadership to improve the company's overall security posture and operational resilience Promote security awareness and provide guidance to end users on IT security best practices Systems Administration & Technical Ownership Manage server performance, updates, user access, permissions, and overall system health Provide advanced troubleshooting and escalation support for complex IT issues Take ownership of identifying root causes and solving issues before they become larger operational problems Develop and maintain IT documentation, standards, and operational procedures Evaluate current systems and proactively recommend improvements and technology upgrades IT Strategy & Growth Support IT initiatives that improve operational efficiency and scalability Evaluate and recommend new hardware, software, and infrastructure solutions Assist with project planning, vendor coordination, and implementation of new technologies Work closely with leadership on long-term IT planning and infrastructure strategy Grow into broader ownership of the IT function and future IT leadership responsibilities Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field preferred 5+ years of hands-on IT experience in systems administration, networking, infrastructure, or IT operations Strong experience supporting Windows server environments, enterprise networks, and infrastructure troubleshooting Proven experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, and cloud administration Strong networking background including WAN/LAN, WiFi, VPNs, firewalls, and multi-site connectivity Experience with cybersecurity practices, security controls, and compliance awareness Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare or Hyper-V Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently and think critically Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting multi-site organizations and distributed network environments Familiarity with Citrix, VOIP systems, and remote access technologies Exposure to DevSecOps, security operations, or infrastructure security best practices Experience with backup/disaster recovery planning and vendor coordination Certifications such as: Security+ Microsoft Azure Certifications
MCSE CISSP
(nice to have, not required) Ideal Candidate Profile We are looking for someone who: Is highly hands-on and enjoys solving technical problems directly Has strong networking and infrastructure experience—not just help desk support Understands both the technical systems and the broader business ecosystem Can operate independently with minimal hand-holding Has a strong security mindset and thinks proactively about risk and prevention Wants long-term growth and is interested in developing into an IT leadership role Is looking for stability and an opportunity to build long-term impact within the organization What This Role Is Not This is not a pure help desk role.
