Job Description
About the Role A large, complex organization is seeking a Systems & Database Engineering Manager to lead teams responsible for enterprise infrastructure and database platforms. This role blends people leadership, hands-on technical oversight, and strategic planning to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate is a proven technical leader who can manage day-to-day operations while also shaping long-term systems and database strategy. This individual will foster a collaborative, accountable team culture and partner closely with cross-functional IT and business stakeholders in a fast-paced, always-on environment. Key Responsibilities Lead, schedule, and assign work across systems engineering and database administration teams, ensuring balanced workloads, performance standards, and ongoing skills development Oversee administration, maintenance, and proactive monitoring of server environments, operating systems, virtualization platforms, and cloud infrastructure Review and guide system architecture and database administration practices; provide hands-on technical direction as needed Direct the design, implementation, and maintenance of database environments, including backup/recovery strategies, security controls, and performance optimization Develop and maintain database frameworks supporting enterprise applications and analytics platforms, including data warehouse environments Plan, propose, and implement system and database upgrades to maintain stability, availability, and scalability Ensure high availability and reliability of critical, revenue-impacting business systems Enforce change management and development lifecycle processes across systems and database functions Promote strong documentation standards, project tracking, and operational reporting; review and approve team deliverables Partner with infrastructure, applications, and other technical teams to coordinate enhancements, upgrades, and integrations Participate in an on-call rotation providing 24/7 support for owned systems, including incident response, vendor coordination, and executive-level escalation when required Analyze workflows and priorities, allocate resources effectively, and communicate progress, risks, and accomplishments to senior IT leadership Ensure adherence to internal standards, policies, and best practices for systems and database management Contribute to IT strategy, architectural direction, and operational philosophy aligned with business objectives Mentor team members, deliver performance feedback, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and customer-focused service
Qualifications:
Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience Experience Proven experience leading technical teams in high-availability, production environments Strong background in enterprise systems engineering and database administration Experience supporting mission-critical, always-on business systems Technical Skills Systems engineering, server and operating system administration Virtualization platforms and cloud infrastructure Database design, administration, backup/recovery, security, and performance tuning Working knowledge of directory services, storage technologies, and enterprise networking concepts Certifications Relevant systems, database, or cloud certifications are a plus Soft Skills Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills Ability to perform effectively under pressure and make sound decisions in time-sensitive situations Leadership mindset with a focus on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement Why is This aGreat Opportunity :
