Information Technology Department Job Description - IT Systems and Hardware Manager Reports To Vice President of Finance Direct / Functional Oversight Sr. Programmer/Analyst, EDI Coordinator, Help Desk, IT vendors, and other IT resources. Global IT infrastructure, systems, data networks, telecommunications, security, and business-critical applications. Location

Position Summary The IT Systems and Hardware Manager is responsible for managing and modernizing K&M Accessories' global IT infrastructure, systems, hardware, data networks, telecommunications, security, and operational support environment. This role ensures critical systems and applications remain stable, secure, backed up, and available in a 24x7 business environment. The position also oversees ERP/SAP Business One support activities, including coordination with implementation partners, data and process transition, hardware readiness, training coordination, and related SAP in-house infrastructure initiatives. Scope of Role
  • Global data and telecommunications networks, including firewalls, VPN/remote access, SD-WAN, VLAN, VoIP, PBX/mobile services, and connectivity across company locations.
  • Server, storage, backup, virtualization, x86 and IBM iSeries environments, endpoint hardware, peripherals, cloud and mobile solutions, and hardware lifecycle planning.
  • Windows Domain, Active Directory, O365 administration, mail routing, network design, SQL Server support coordination, and core business application infrastructure.
  • ERP/SAP Business One infrastructure and support and backup/reliability requirements.
  • IT department processes, help desk standards, EDI support coordination, vendor/service-provider accountability, documentation, security hardening, and operational improvement. Primary ResponsibilitiesIT Leadership, Standards, and Department Management
  • Lead the IT function and ensure critical servers, applications, and networks are available and reliable.
  • Maintain and improve IT procedures, standards, documentation, and operating discipline.
  • Manage help desk processes, procedures, escalation paths, and daily prioritization.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging hardware, software, security, and services that may benefit the company. Infrastructure, Network, and Telecommunications Operations
  • Manage all aspects of K&M Accessories' worldwide data and telecommunications networks, including planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide capacity planning and operational oversight for servers, firewalls, remote access, switches, routers, SAN/storage, virtualization infrastructure, backup systems, and related core infrastructure.
  • Plan and execute network changes, equipment replacement, server modernization, hardware lifecycle improvements, and connectivity initiatives across locations.
  • Oversee telecommunications resources, including PBX and mobile services. Security, Patching, Backup, and Business Continuity
  • Manage operating systems, hardware, and applications to maintain security, data integrity, and performance.
  • Research, test, coordinate, and apply patches and updates for all related infrastructure components.
  • Manage protection of company IT assets via anti-virus/endpoint protection tools.
  • Oversee backup of critical data, protection of media, validation, and implementation of backup platforms.
  • Assist with cybersecurity hardening, including firewall/VPN oversight, vulnerability awareness, and access.
  • Support after-hours or high-priority operational issues when required to maintain business continuity / uptime. Systems Administration and Core Applications
  • Design, implement, administer, and maintain the Windows Domain and Active Directory environment.
  • Administer O365, mail routing, network design, permissions/access controls, and related systems-management.
  • Coordinate support for SQL Server, Enterprise Manager, and core infrastructure-dependent applications .
  • Maintain vendor relationships, negotiate and manage service contracts, and build infrastructure plans.
ERP, SAP
Business One, and Modernization Initiatives
  • Lead or coordinate infrastructure-related SAP initiatives, including bringing the SAP instance in house, ensuring backup structure is fully implemented and functioning, and supporting SAP reliability requirements.
  • Evaluate and drive future-state infrastructure improvements, including server migrations, virtualization strategy, infrastructure modernization, and operational improvement projects. Vendor, Project, EDI, and Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Lead infrastructure projects, service-provider work, hardware/software contracts from planning to completion.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, vendors, and service providers to resolve issues and ensure accountability.
  • Oversee EDI support needs, including workload coordination, issue follow-up, and communication flow. Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of practical IT experience, including hands-on infrastructure, network, systems, hardware, and support responsibilities. Including 3-5 years of project management and people management experience.
  • Experience with SAP Business One implementation, support, administration, or infrastructure coordination.
  • Ability to manage IT team and support structure to ensure critical servers and applications are available 24x7.
  • In-depth knowledge of data networking, telecommunications, remote access, firewall admin,, and IT security.
  • Comprehensive understanding of PC and server hardware, software, peripherals, SAN/storage, virtual server infrastructure, x86 and IBM iSeries servers, SD-WAN, iSCSI, VLAN, VoIP, cloud solutions, and mobile solutions.
  • Hands-on skills in Windows Domain and Active Directory administration, O365 administration, network design, mail routing, backup systems, patch management, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
  • Strong working knowledge of network protocols, switching, firewalls, servers, backup systems, virtualization platforms, and general infrastructure operations.
  • Ability to lead technical projects, coordinate multiple priorities, maintain momentum across long-term initiatives.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, sound judgment, organization, and vendor-management.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server and Enterprise Manager.
  • Experience supporting EDI, help-desk, cybersecurity hardening efforts, and infrastructure modernization.
