Job Description

Duties include management and oversight of a Public Safety software technology team whose focus is on developing, administering, and supporting information technology systems, specifically Public Safety (Police, Fire and Municipal Court); providing support for specialized computer applications and databases utilized by Public Safety; and developing new applications and improving existing processing via the implementation of technology. Additional duties include coordinating with other IT managers to develop and manage departmental budgets and goals; providing technical support and training for Public Safety users, including troubleshooting, problem resolution and general question response; analyzing, modifying, testing, and debugging new or existing programs and making changes as required; managing section staff by assigning tasks, tracking progress, and evaluating performance; designing and teaching end-user training classes; and managing contractors by developing and evaluating RFPs, completing contract negotiations, and reviewing contract deliverables. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent with major course work in computer science, information systems or a closely related field and five years of increasingly responsible experience including two years of administrative and supervisory experience required. Candidates will be subject to a CJIS criminal history check and must not have any criminal conviction above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or any Class B misdemeanor within the past 10 years; other convictions may also be considered. PAY GRADE IT30 / FULL PAY RANGE
