Job Summary/Company :
Sparks Group has partnered with a large government contractor to find a Category Manager. As the Category Manager you will be responsible for managing the IT hardware and software categories to develop and execute enterprise-wide category strategies (end user computing, infrastructure hardware, enterprise software, SaaS, cloud-adjacent licensing, maintenance, support, and related IT services). The ideal candidate has 6 years of category management experience to include working in the IT software and hardware space, is a strategic, analytical and creative thinker who can work in a fast-paced changing environment. Responsibilities :
Analyze historical spend and business forecasts to create scalable, enterprise-wide strategies across IT hardware, software, SaaS, and services. Establish and manage high-value partnerships with OEMs and channel partners, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and market intelligence. Negotiate and maintain FAR-compliant enterprise agreements that maximize value and streamline procurement across the business. Communicate sourcing strategies to key stakeholders and provide training on utilizing enterprise agreements and preferred partner networks. Monitor supplier KPIs-including savings, reliability, and compliance-while refining strategies to adapt to market shifts and technology lifecycles.
Qualifications/Background Profile :
Bachelor's degree is preferred though additional experience in lieu of degree will be considered. Minimum of 5 years of experience in category management to include managing IT hardware and software categories Experience developing category strategies, sourcing plans, savings pipelines, supplier segmentation models and executive-level business cases. Experience in MS Office, data analytical tools and procurement software (Ivalua is preferred).
