Job Description

Piper Companies is hiring a Technical Portfolio Manager for a tech-driven insurance and financial services company located in Durham, NC. The Technical Portfolio Manager will serve as a partner to the IT organization, driving alignment, and delivering visibility across multiple technical initiatives and product squads. The Technical Portfolio Manager will be required to be onsite 3 days a week at our Durham, NC location. Responsibilities of the
Technical Portfolio Manager :
Serve as a portfolio management partner to IT leadership, supporting CIO-level initiatives and representing IT holistically across programs Identify and manage cross-team dependencies while sequencing work across teams to support a large-scale roadmap Engage with senior leadership and executives, providing clear communication and proactive risk mitigation Requirements of the
Technical Portfolio Manager :
8 + years in project management experience and 3 + years of experience leading rigorous technical programs/ portfolios Bachelor's degree in business , Finance, Technology, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PfMP, or SaFE) are a plus but secondary to proven senior-level experience. Strong background in IT/software development environments with experience applying SDLC methodologies Proficiency with PMO tools such as JIRA, Smartsheet, or similar platforms Experience working within Agile/Scrum and hybrid delivery models onsite 3 days a week in Durham, NC office Compensation for the
Technical Portfolio Manager :
Salary of $120,000 - $140,000
