What to Expect Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Technical Project Manager to lead the development, implementation, and oversight of quality systems and internal audit programs at GFNY. This hands-on role will involve business process design, project management, standardization, and auditing to drive quantifiable improvements in Tesla's quality management systems. What You'll Do
Develop and execute "the plan" for standardizing, and implementing aspects of quality systems, including quality management systems, internal audits, factory business processes, process design, documentation, and alignment with industry standards
Manage and coordinate the Internal Audit Program by planning, scheduling, and conducting audits on compliance, system effectiveness, and performance; drive corrective actions (CAPA), and ensure resolution of audit findings
Drive accountability for project milestones, key initiatives, and success criteria related to Quality Management System integration, including developing feedback loops, metrics monitoring, and tools for visibility into process bottlenecks, inconsistencies, and waste elimination
Coordinate with a variety of cross-functional stakeholders, including production operations, engineering functions, material & production planning units, factory software teams, and site leaders, to integrate quality into operations and enhance repeatability
Distill complex inputs into actionable insights, delivering world-class decision support for senior leaders and executives while contributing to strategic planning for global scalability and regulatory alignment
Translate business process needs into software design requirements; collaborate closely with software development teams to define functional and timeline requirements for tools that support quality systems
Prioritize multiple projects across departments and systems, provide status updates to stakeholders, and proactively identify improvement opportunities (e.g., gaps between processes and systems), implementing best practices where they exist or developing, documenting, and implementing new ones as needed
Champion continuous improvement and first principles thinking to evolve systems beyond baseline requirements; collaborate with other sites and teams to drive common solutions as Tesla's "best practices"
Perform training for various functions on new rollouts, functionality changes, and audit processes to ensure adoption and compliance What You'll Bring
Degree in Engineering, Quality Management, STEM, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 7+ years of experience in quality engineering or quality systems roles, with proven experience establishing, implementing, and auditing systems in global manufacturing, remanufacturing, or service environments
Experience managing remote/distributed teams, conducting effective audits, and handling direct reports (e.g. technicians per site)
Knowledge of quality system industry standards (e.g.
ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AIAG
) and tools/methodologies (e.g. PFMEA, root cause analysis, CAPA)
Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, presentation, summarization, and escalation to manage project health, data integrity, and stakeholder alignment
Exemplary people, organizational, project management, and servant leadership skills; ability to collaborate across diverse functional groups and work under pressure with competing demands and tight deadlines
Track record of excellence in current and prior roles, demonstrable with metrics or KPIs, including managing complex projects in quality or quality systems environments
High attention to detail, self-motivation, "A Message to Garcia" dependability, bias for action, impeccable judgment, uncompromising integrity on quality/safety, and resilience in dynamic environments
Strong team player with the ability to empower others through guidance and foster a people-first culture
