This requires us to deliver on our promises and always look for new opportunities to grow, both ourselves and our business Job Purpose Provide leadership and direction to the Project Controls team of Schedule and Cost Analysts who are accountable for the development, management, update, and analysis of Major project schedules and costs for a portfolio of complex, capital, Electric Transmission and Distribution construction projects with annual spend $450M - $500M and growing Key Accountabilities Work closely with management and provide team leadership to ensure that organizational goals are communicated to the team and that group direction is consistent with corporate strategy, direction and growth objectives Lead, motivate and develop the team, allocate resources and provide the necessary training and coaching in order to develop a performance-based culture and ensure results are delivered in line with expectations and business objectives. Ensure support is provided to the Project Managers and Project Directors to help in understanding their cost and schedule interactions, including but not limited to: Analyzing variances in cost and schedule performance Project performance reporting Communicating reasons for variances to relevant stakeholders Proactively identifying trends and potential deviations from baselines and recommending corrective course of actions Ensure the interactions between different projects in a portfolio are understood and robust analysis on individual projects and the portfolio has taken place where necessary to ensure that projects are delivered to agreed standards and in line with strategic objectives. Support the project managers/directors in the Change Control process for baseline changes to ensure they are tracked and assessed appropriately. Ensure project schedules are effectively developed and managed, and that they reflect the scope to be completed to ensure timely delivery of projects. Ensure schedule and cost support is given to challenge contractors change orders. Develop and maintain project controls standards. Help build project controls capabilities and understanding of best practices throughout the organization. Provide guidance and coaching to team members to ensure their effective development to meet their personal aspirations and future business needs. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree required At least 5 years experience in prject management, project controls, or project leadership required. Considerable proven experience and expert knowledge in schedule development and analysis including milestone management, critical path analysis, understanding of float and time risk allowance and earned value methodologies, preferred. Proficient using Primavera to create project plans and progress them using a pre-defined work breakdown structure and to optimize the performance of a portfolio of projects and familiar with the issues that arise on projects and how to overcome them, preferred. Proven experience and understanding of integrated cost and schedule management systems preferred. Knowledge of the typical projects that National Grid undertakes including their issues, typical durations etc. is preferred Expert understanding of how individual projects interact with each other, considering (but not limited to) system outage coordination, resource constraints, and budgets Oracle P6 skills, preferred. It is desirable but not essential that the individual would have knowledge of P6 Analytics, Microsoft Project and Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau or Oracle Business Intelligence Experience working under tight deadlines Demonstrate a high level of personal initiative, integrity and ability to interact with company personnel, contractors and regulatory representatives Experienced in influencing, persuading, communicating, challenging and negotiating. Must have Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills #LI-ES1 Salary $175,000- $205,000 a year National Grid utilizes an assessment that evaluates the job qualifications/characteristics using AI or statistically based scoring.
