Project Engineer / Project Lead - Digital Transformation & Industry 4.0 Job Description This role serves as a Project Lead within a PMO team, driving digital transformation and Industry 4.0 initiatives for a global product development environment. You will lead cross-functional projects focused on modernizing manufacturing and business processes, ensuring that stakeholder needs are translated into actionable, data-driven solutions. The position is primarily onsite with the flexibility to work remotely an average of one to two days per week, offering a dynamic setting where engineering, operations, and technology converge. Responsibilities + Lead end-to-end digital transformation and Industry 4.0 projects within a PMO environment, from initial concept through implementation and stabilization. + Collaborate closely with manufacturing, operations, and business process stakeholders to understand their objectives, challenges, and data needs. + Analyze stakeholder requests to determine what data and system capabilities are required, and translate those requests into clear technical and process requirements. + Assess internal capabilities and constraints to identify what is feasible, and define practical project plans that align with organizational priorities. + Work with cross-functional teams to design and implement improvements to manufacturing and business processes that leverage digital tools and Industry 4.0 principles. + Coordinate project activities, timelines, and deliverables to ensure initiatives progress efficiently and achieve expected outcomes. + Communicate project status, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders and leadership in a clear and structured manner. + Support the development and refinement of standardized processes and best practices within the PMO for digital transformation projects. + Collaborate with the Director of Strategic Operations and other leaders to ensure projects align with broader strategic goals. + Facilitate problem-solving sessions and workshops with stakeholders to refine requirements and validate proposed solutions. Essential Skills + Proven experience working with business processes in a manufacturing company, with at least 2+ years of hands-on involvement in operations or process-related roles. + Demonstrated experience translating stakeholder requests into actionable requirements within a digital transformation or Industry 4.0 initiative. + Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and business process workflows, including how data flows through these processes. + Proficiency in stakeholder management, including gathering requirements, managing expectations, and building collaborative relationships. + Solid knowledge of digital transformation concepts and Industry 4.0 principles as they relate to manufacturing and operations. + Ability to interpret and define what type of data different departments need, and to determine how to obtain and structure that data. + Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience working in a structured PMO environment or on cross-functional project teams. + Experience in strategic operations, process improvement, or similar roles that bridge business and technical functions. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate feasibility and propose practical solutions. + Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with technical and non-technical stakeholders. + Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and project quality. Work Environment The role is primarily onsite within a global product development and manufacturing environment, providing direct exposure to operations, production processes, and business functions. The position offers some flexibility to work remotely an average of one to two days per week, supporting a hybrid work arrangement. You will work closely with a PMO team and report to the Director of Strategic Operations, collaborating with stakeholders across departments to drive digital transformation and Industry 4.0 projects. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukee, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr.
