at Cognizant in Chicago, Illinois, United States Job Description About the role As a QA Automation Engineer
  • API & Mobile (Appium), you will make an impact by designing, developing, and maintaining automated test solutions to ensure the quality and performance of applications. You will be a valued member of the Quality Engineering team and work collaboratively with developers, business analysts, and cross-functional stakeholders in an Agile environment. In this role, you will:
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Java, Selenium, and related technologies
  • Collaborate with project teams to define test strategies, develop test cases, and execute functional, regression, and performance testing
  • Enhance and maintain reusable automation frameworks, libraries, and tools to improve testing efficiency
  • Integrate automated test scripts into CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing and reporting
  • Identify, document, and track defects, working closely with development teams to ensure timely resolution Work model: Hybrid We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible.
Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a Cognizant or client office in Chicago, IL.   • Strong expertise in Selenium WebDriver with Java
  • Hands-on experience with API testing tools such as Rest Assured and mobile automation using Appium
  • Experience working with automation frameworks such as BDD Cucumber, TestNG, or JUnit
  • Proficiency in web automation, browser compatibility testing, backend testing, and API testing
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Scrum practices
  • Strong understanding of software testing principles and automation best practices These will help you stand out
  • Experience building or enhancing enterprise-level automation frameworks
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools and integrating automated tests into pipelines
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience with test data management and automation reporting tools

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until 6/18/2026. The annual salary for this position is between $53,477
  • $92,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
