We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google's needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. The AR Glasses team is building glasses that provide all-day helpfulness in a light, stylish form factor. Our team is responsible for delivering one of the most powerful experiences for glasses: real-time speech translation. XR glasses use an advanced mic array paired with cutting edge Gemini-based translation models to perceive and translate speech from a foreign language into a language the user understands. The glasses wearer can listen or read the translation as the other person speaks. We are looking for talented AI-native SWEs to develop applications for a novel computing platform, AR glasses. These apps bring the best of Google to users in a new form factor with new capabilities (first-person perspective, line-of-sight UX, ambient sensing). For decades, the computing revolution has reshaped our world driven by breakthroughs in compute, connectivity, mobile, and now, AI. Google's XR team is at the forefront of the next major leap - the convergence of AI and XR. This is more than just new devices - it's about reimagining how we interact with the world around us. We're building a future where lightweight XR devices like smart glasses and headsets pair with helpful AI to augment human intelligence, offering personalized, conversational, and contextually aware experiences. Ensure XR support feels native and idiomatic to the platform, leveraging modern mobile development practices (e.g., MVVM) and the best of the Glasses SDK. Work closely with UX and PM to define, prototype, and test experiences to discover what experiences users value the most and how to improve the experiences to provide more value to users.
