Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to provide support for the U.S. Marine Corps Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) systems. You will conduct engineering, testing and evaluation, and support experimentation on C5I systems and amphibious platforms to make the Fleet Marine Force (FMF) more capable.
Responsibilities:
Install, modify, and troubleshoot local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and virtual networks at all levels of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) reference model Layer-1 (Physical), Layer-2 (Data), Layer-3 (Network), and Layer-4 (Transport) Analyze test network infrastructure, develop recommendations, and implement improvements for increased network reliability and throughput for MCTSSA test and tactical networks. Determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the test and engineering network infrastructure along with its participating air C2 systems. Develop and implement strategies for improving test networks and further leveraging these systems to increase network communications capabilities or test infrastructures. Investigate emerging LAN, WAN, and virtual network technologies, to include those employed in USMC tactical networks that provide a greater benefit to the current test and USMC tactical networks, per the OSI Reference Model Layer-1 (Physical), Layer-2 (Data), Layer-3 (Network), and Layer-4 (Transport) solutions. Collect network data from test and engineering events to support event analysis and reporting. Deploy, configure, maintain, update, and troubleshoot the virtual infrastructure environments, and network administrator workstations. Define, plan, develop, analyze, and assess the network communications security architecture and incorporate security measures into tactical systems. Provide planning to direct network data collection. Deploy, set up, and operate network data collection test tools during test events. Develop, review, write, and/or provide technical input to technical documents. Perform network data analysis, data reduction, and reporting in accordance with established plans and requested deliverables, such as creation of test result, figures, graphs, charts, and authoring verbiage for test and technical documents. Troubleshoot technical issues with network components, DoD networks, radio frequency (RF) communication links, satellite communications links, and ground communication systems. Develop automated test tools to improve automation of network data collection and analysis via use of hardware test tools and/or scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerCLI, Power Shell), and structured programming languages (e.g., Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments (SCPI), Microsoft Virtual C++ (MSVC), MATLAB, JMP). Set up and configure in-band and out-of-band networks for data collection and analysis services in support of test events. Conduct research, analyze, and test new technology, provide Troubleshooting support to FMF, and support military exercises and contingency operations as required. It is imperative that the applicant have a SECRET security clearance.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Active SECRET Clearance United States passport. CompTIA Network+ certification. CompTIA Security+ certification (no later than six months from onboarding). Network administration and troubleshooting of Cisco routing and switching. Experience of industry networking best practices. Experience collecting, analyzing, and troubleshooting network data using Wireshark. Experience designing and implementing tactical network architectures. Expertise in developing and applying C2 network methodologies in an integrated test environment. Ability to apply C2 network expertise through technology processes, methodologies, standards, or frameworks. Physically capable of supporting military exercises and contingency operations. Excellent communication skills.
Desired Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field. Experience with tactical test networks, Network Operations Center (NOC) services, network infrastructure services, FMF exercise networks, shipboard networking, and virtual networks. Cisco professional certifications (e.g., Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Routing and Switching). Hands-on experience with Riverbed products or SolarWinds products
