Job Description

MSP Project Engineer If you've spent years solving complex IT problems and you're ready to do more than just close tickets — this is the role. We're a growing boutique MSP looking for a Project Engineer who thrives on variety, takes ownership seriously, and wants to be the person clients actually trust. You'll touch infrastructure modernization, cloud migrations, network overhauls, security initiatives, and full-environment onboardings — often across multiple industries in the same week. No two projects are the same. That's the point. What You'll Be Working On This isn't a break-fix role. You'll be leading the work that actually transforms how businesses operate — projects like: Microsoft 365 and cloud migrations — moving organizations off legacy systems and into modern, well-architected environments Full client onboardings — building standardized, supportable infrastructure from the ground up Network redesigns — VLANs, firewalls, switching, Wi-Fi, VPNs done right Security and identity overhauls — Entra ID, MFA, endpoint protection, email security Endpoint and device management — Intune deployments, workstation standardization, MDM rollouts Disaster recovery buildouts — backup architecture that actually works when it matters You'll own projects end-to-end: discovery, scoping, scheduling, execution, and handoff. When a project closes, clients should feel like they're in a better place — and you'll know you built it. What You Bring Solid hands-on experience across most of these: Microsoft 365 administration and migrations Entra ID / Azure AD and Active Directory Windows Server, Group Policy Networking fundamentals: DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, switching, Wi-Fi Endpoint deployment, Microsoft Intune, or similar MDM tools Backup and disaster recovery solutions Email security, MFA, and endpoint protection PSA, RMM, and documentation platforms Backgrounds we'd love to hear from: MSP Engineer, Systems Engineer, vCIO, Implementation Engineer, Technical Account Manager, or an escalation tech who's ready to step into a project lead role. Who You Are Technically sharp — and you know it, but you're not done learning Comfortable owning a project from first call to final documentation Calm when things get complicated, clear when clients need answers Professional enough to sit across from a CEO and credible enough to earn the trust of a sysadmin Ready to do work that's actually interesting Why This Role Most engineers at this level are bored, underutilized, or stuck in a queue. This is none of those things. You'll work on real projects with real complexity across a diverse client base. Your decisions will matter. Your work will be visible. And as the division grows, there's a genuine path to building and leading a team of your own. If you want to keep growing — technically and professionally — and you want to do it somewhere your contributions actually move the needle, let's talk.
Pay:
$85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
Benefits:
401(k) 401(k) matching Health insurance Retirement plan Application Question(s): Describe a specific IT project you led. Give us the client industry, the size of the environment, what the project was, and one thing that went sideways. Don't summarize — tell us what actually happened. You're troubleshooting a Microsoft 365 mail flow issue post-migration — users in one office aren't receiving external email. List the first five things you check and why, in the order you'd actually do them. A client emails you frustrated that a problem you fixed last week is back. Write the actual response email you would send them. What's the messiest environment you've ever inherited or walked into? What made it bad, and what did you actually do about it? A client's email migration from on-prem Exchange to Microsoft 365 is scheduled for this Friday evening starting at 6PM. The cutover is expected to take 3-4 hours. Users should expect a brief period where email may be delayed. Write a 3-sentence email to the client's staff letting them know what to expect.
