$52/hr to $64.75/hr, DOE Senior Automation Engineer, Liquid Handling - (Contract) - Onsite, Southern, CA Biotech organization seeks a Sr. Automation Engineer over Liquid Handling for a 9-month onsite contract in southern California. This requires 5+ years professional life sciences experience and 3+ years' experience supporting the development of Liquid Handling equipment/processes, to include the utilization of Hamilton and Tecan systems. Additionally, Siemens Opcenter, formerly Camstar MES is highly desired. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of liquid handling equipment and processes. This person will possess programming expertise in C# and Python, to program liquid handlers, including evaluation and deployment of new liquid handling technology/processes, performing proof-of-concept tests, feasibility evaluations, systems engineering controls, verifications, characterizations, and validation of solutions within regulated GMP environments. Additionally, this requires extensive integration expertise again within Liquid Handling and other associated systems (LIMS/MES). Benefits $45/hr. - $64/hr. A long-term contract that could potentially go into a permanent position based on performance. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in life sciences or related area. This requires the consultant to be paid as a W2 paid consultant only. Local candidates will only be considered with the ability to be on the client site 5-days a week, this is near San Diego/Southern CA. 5+ years of total professional experience in life sciences. 3+ years Liquid Handling in both Hamilton and Tecan. Other systems desired would be Beckman, Agilent, Lynx. 3+ years of object-oriented programming with both C# and Python Programming, and integration expertise with associated devices like plate readers, sealers, shakers, and scanners. Full cycle expertise of Liquid Handling processes from beginning to end. 1+ year Siemens OpCenter formerly Camstar MES. Expertise of automated systems programming to include method development, error recovery logic, liquid class optimization, method validation/testing via simulation/trace files, and integrations with other systems like
MES/LIMS.
Expertise in troubleshooting integrated automated systems. Ability to mange vendors and other engineering consultants. Responsibilities Serve as the Liquid Handling Automation System product owner, implementing Hamilton and Tecan within a regulated lab and manufacturing environment (GMP). Developing complex automation scripting and recovery methods for new assays and workflows, to include error handling, custom liquid classes, water/simulation runs, and data analysis. Validating automated applications while ensuring accuracy, precision, and repeatability for automated workflows. Driving process development and continuous improvements for enhanced system performance and in support of a positive user experience. Providing regular and ongoing technical support while troubleshooting for protocols and instrumentation needs. Developing and maintaining detailed documentation to include training materials, internal process guides, and more. Maintaining relationships with both customers and team members, while serving technical SME. Delivering basic and more advanced software/hardware training to internal users.
