Proficiency in configuration, troubleshooting/repair, installation, and maintenance is essential. Responsibilities include providing technical support, delivering customer service, managing computer equipment inventory, overseeing network connectivity, server infrastructure, storage, firewalls, and offering support for PC applications.
Residency Requirement:
Must be able to respond to the Ocala Police Department located at 402 S. Pine Avenue within forty-five (45) minutes from the time called by authorized personnel. Examples of Duties Serves as the System Administrator for networks, responsible for analysis, design, configuration, implementation, diagnostics, performance tuning, installation, configuration, repair, maintenance, and upgrade of network including all hardware, application software, operating systems, and peripheral devices. Manages the Intrusion Prevention System and SIEM including analyzing and configuring reports, alarms, and providing remediation guidance. Perform comprehensive vulnerability assessments and analyze networked devices to identify and address potential security risks. Responsible for installation, configuration, diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and upgrade of on-premise application software (varying vendors). Responsible for installation, configuration, data analysis, repair, maintenance, and upgrade of physical access security systems and servers including hardware, application software, operating systems, and peripheral devices. Serves as a Subject Matter Expert for ensuring compliance with CJIS Security standards. Takes a proactive role in developing and maintaining documentation, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements. Assist in developing and maintaining an effective Disaster Recovery plan encompassing all systems for the department, including thorough Disaster Recovery documentation. Maintain backup of mission-critical systems and recovery strategy procedures. Establishes and configures real-time monitoring for all mission-critical devices within the network, ensuring proactive oversight and swift response to potential issues. Ensures proper change management procedures are followed and backups are made before implementing any changes. Assesses emerging technologies and products, providing insightful recommendations for proactive network security enhancements and strategic expansion, fostering continuous improvement and growth. Develops and maintains comprehensive documentation for the network, encompassing detailed network diagrams that articulate the functionality of all components and their interrelationships. Responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory of all network server equipment and software ensuring adequate equipment maintenance coverage and software licensing. Ensures accuracy in maintaining an inventory of all network devices, equipment, and software, including coverage for equipment maintenance and compliance with software licensing requirements. Delivers timely and consistent updates on project progress and status, ensuring stakeholders are informed and aligned with the latest developments. May have to work alternate hours as necessary for the efficient operation of the department. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned. Specific to Ocala Police Department Design, configure, and sustainment of secure, high-performance network environments that enable large-scale data transport, LAN/WAN connectivity and maintenance, application hosting, and hybrid cloud/on-premises connectivity. Monitor network performance, identify anomalies, and resolve complex Layer 2/Layer 3 routing and switching issues. Coordinate network capacity planning, upgrades, and migrations to meet evolving performance and scalability needs. Maintain network topology diagrams, IP addressing schemes, VLAN assignments, and configuration documentation. Responsible for on premise storage for tier 1, 2, and 3 systems across a variety of vendors. Application support for on premise and cloud systems to ensure end-to-end system performance and security. Responsible for management of hypervisors and associated machines. Responsible for data backup strategies across several platforms supporting a 3-2-1 strategy. Interact with user groups and management to define and document requirements for business application software. Assist in the evaluation and implementation of third-party software applications and developments tools where applicable. Develop/maintain test scripts and conduct through testing of new and modified applications prior to implementation. Provide application and business expertise; to assist in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of system enhancements. Create and maintain complete documentation for data and business models. Provide support to end users on a variety of issues. Troubleshoot issues with existing or developed systems and work with appropriate resources to resolve them. Provide supervisor with progress/status updates on a regular basis; escalated scheduling delays or other conflicts. Coordinate the implementation, technical writing and user training activities associated with system changes and/or new system development efforts. Must maintain CJIS compliance in accordance with most current Criminal Justice Information Systems documentation. Subject to on-call rotation and tier 2/3 support in emergent circumstances. Minimum Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. Education and Experience Graduation from an accredited 4-year college with major coursework in Computer Engineering or related field. Minimum of 4 years of paid experience in administration or management of computer hardware, software, and networking.
