We are seeking a Senior Network & Systems Engineer to serve as the primary authority for our organizational infrastructure at Babcock Ranch. This isn't just a corporate IT desk job—you will be the architect behind the networks powering Babcock Ranch , America's first solar-powered town. From dark fiber and utility connectivity to high-level network segmentation, you will design and manage the systems that keep a sustainable city running.
What You'll Do Architect & Innovate:
Design, implement, and maintain multi-site network architecture, including routers, firewalls, and wireless systems. Power a City:
Manage critical connectivity for dark fiber, water plant systems, and utility lift stations. Direct Strategy:
Serve as the senior technical escalation point, identifying root causes for complex issues and directing resolution strategies. Lead the Stack:
Manage Windows Server, Active Directory/Azure AD, and Intune environments while maintaining authoritative documentation and topology diagrams. Collaborate:
Provide mentorship and technical direction to IT Administrators while managing key vendor relationships. What We're Looking For Senior Technical Authority:
You have a proven track record of exercising independent judgment in network and systems architecture. Infrastructure Mastery:
Expertise in network segmentation, VPN configuration, and virtualization. Operational Excellence:
Experience or strong interest in managing industrial/field connectivity (IoT, Utilities). Collaborative Leader:
Ability to provide senior-level mentorship and clear standards for change control and security. Local Presence:
Regular in-person attendance is required to support our field environments Skill Set:
Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies, TCP/IP, routing, VLANs, VPNs, and firewall configuration. Hands-on experience with Unifi, pfSense, or equivalent networking platforms. Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure AD, Intune, DNS/DHCP, and Group Policy. Experience with network connectivity across fiber, wireless, and multi-site environments, including an understanding of Layer 2/Layer 3 transport and routing, and basic fiber troubleshooting such as link validation and light level verification. Experience with identity and access services including NPS, certificate-based authentication, PKI, and management of certificates within enterprise environments. Proficiency in virtualization platforms (VMware or Hyper-V) and network monitoring tools. Understanding of cybersecurity principles, network hardening, and secure system design. Excellent analytical, organizational, and documentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively and prioritize in a fast-paced, multi-site environment. Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience . Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in networking and systems administration. Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, Network+, or similar) are preferred. Experience supporting complex, multi-site environments such as planned communities, campuses, utilities, or similar large-scale operational environments is a plus. Why Kitson & Partners?
