A Brief Overview Schedule and scope evaluation for engineering and other technical activities relating to the project. This person will have direct contact with customers and vendors. Ensures projects are completed according to project plans. The role of a Project Engineer is to on-board and deliver solutions before transitioning to production operations. Job Responsibilities + Gather all POC requirements and specifications and translate needed requirements into build instructions, as-built documentation, and integration workbooks to be utilized in a production environment + Execute successful integration for technology solutions per specifications and/or configuration instructions utilizing both industry and WWT best practices. + Drive the project's progress, from kick-off to final approval. + Assist internal teams to gauge the technical level of effort for projects within the integration centers. + Configuration of multiple vendor networking, wireless, and collaboration devices. + Configuration of core network storage and server technologies based on program needs. + Develop project timelines regarding the technical execution of the solution within the Integration Centers (IC). + Provide technical guidance, knowledge transfers and mentorship to peers. + Leading collaboration sessions between customer and OEM to offer new design solutions. + Communicate project status to both internal and external stakeholders on a continuous basis. + Attend all required Program/project meetings with internal/external Customers + Provide project duration regarding build time along with the technical execution of the solution within the IC. + Setup project kickoff and peer review meetings with project team prior to start of build. Provide training and knowledge transfers to project team. + Provide feedback tied to best practices for hardware compatibility (such as general dims, power, airflow, installation recommendations, etc..) + Confirm BOM accuracy as needed for design, perform quality checks at each stage of build duration for documentation needs. + Change Notice review and management with project teams. + Assist and provide feedback for work instruction, visual aid creation, value add as on site. Education Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Information Technology, Engineering or similar field required Work Experience A minimum of 3 years' progressive experience in a related field required Other Work Experience + 1 year direct work experience in a project management capacity. + 3+ years hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting issues on a Cisco network. + Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential with the ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments. Travel Requirements None Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities + Resolves issues by diagnosing problems, determining possible resolutions and implementing effective solutions. + Demonstrates the discipline of planning, organizing and managing resources and activities to achieve specified outcomes within a clearly defined timeframe and standards. + Identifies documentation needs and develops technical reference documentation in accordance with standards and styles. + Communicates with clarity and precision, presenting complex information in a concise format that is audience appropriate. + Serves in a "player coach" role by managing, reviewing and conducting the day-to-day work in a specific technical domain area; applies domain knowledge to develop solutions to problems. + Leverages technical knowledge of products to meet customer needs and understands market segments as well as market data trends. + Demonstrates a concern for accuracy and thoroughness so that sufficiently detailed information is logged correctly. + Ability to read engineering drawings such as rack elevations and cable run list schematics, detailing all connections (
Example:
power, data networking and storage) + Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for structured cabling systems using various cable types + Knowledge of data center electrical requirements and conversions (i.e. Kilowatts, Amps, phases, UPS , etc.) + Familiarity with design fundamentals, and initial setup and configuration tasks associated with the build-out of VMware vSphere solutions. + Understanding of server platforms + Proficient understanding of hardware platforms, such as HP Blade chassis, and HP standalone servers, Cisco UCS B and C series, Cisco WAVE and WAS . + Familiarity with Local and Wide Area Networks and Data Communications + Solid understanding of current data center and network technologies that are commonly running as part of the IT infrastructure for Fortune 500 companies. + Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities and the ability to prioritize in a high-pressure environment + Familiarity with Cisco Unified Communication Manager based on department needs - configuration, installation and troubleshooting ( CUCM , CTS Manager, Interoperability, MCU , Device registrations, SIP and H.323). + This role includes assignment of work for specific WWT customers. Some customers have specific on-boarding requirements, including background check and drug testing requirements that go beyond WWT's requirements. Ability to meet these requirements may be necessary for continued employment, depending on needs of the department.
