Role Definition This position is for Connectivity Engineering Specialist focusing on System testing and/or Software development and will join the Site Connectivity Solutions team. This individual will be part of an engineering team developing and integrating Connectivity solutions for autonomous construction machines. This role requires working knowledge of product development, software and systems architecture, and will focus on development, testing and documentation. The individual will work within team and be involved in various aspects of the new technology and new product development cycle; design, development, product quality and validation all focused on enabling autonomous construction machines through new and emerging connectivity technologies. The position will require a strong quality focus through design reviews and interaction with downstream integration points. Data analysis and systems analysis skills are needed to help troubleshoot complex issues from proving grounds or customer sites. Responsibilities Stay updated with the latest advancements in cellular, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN technologies and connectivity standards. Research new industry connectivity solutions that could be leveraged to further enable autonomous construction machines. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements, ensuring alignment with project goals and industry standards. Develop detailed technical specifications and documentation for connectivity solutions. Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to evaluate potential solutions and their impact on existing systems. Work closely with software and hardware development teams to ensure seamless integration of connectivity technologies. Participate in design reviews, testing, and validation processes to ensure compliance with requirements. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to connectivity systems and technologies.
What You Will Have:
Industry Knowledge:
Knowledge of the organization's industry group, trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations, and trendsetters; ability to apply industry knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
Software Development Life Cycle:
Knowledge of software development life cycle; ability to use a structured methodology for delivering and managing new or enhanced software products to the marketplace.
Programming:
Knowledge of relevant programming languages and tools; ability to test, write, design, debug, troubleshoot and maintain source codes and computer programs.
Problem Solving:
Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Software Product Testing:
Knowledge of software product testing; ability to design, plan, and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure software product quality and adherence to stated requirements.
Technical Troubleshooting:
Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation. Consideration for
Top Candidate:
(Preferred) Requires a bachelor's degree (or equivalent foreign equivalent degree) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a closely related field. 10+ years of engineering experience Ability to lead programs and mentor other engineers Understanding of Network technologies and protocols along with connectivity standards Understanding of the capabilities and limits of certain wireless technology (Wi-Fi, Cellular, unlicensed backhaul) Knowledge and capability in the areas of SD-WAN, wireless link bonding, load balancing, network coding Experience in software development and architecture (C++)
Linux/Ubuntu Additional Details:
This position requires the candidate to work full-time at either Mossville, IL (Peoria) or Irving, TX (Dallas). Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position. Visa sponsorship is NOT available with this position. #
LI Summary Pay Range:
$128,470.00 - $208,770.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
