Job Description

Grizzly Broadband is a rapidly growing regional ISP serving thousands of customers across Montana through fiber and fixed wireless networks. We're building the next generation of broadband infrastructure to connect rural and underserved communities — and we're looking for a Lead ISP Network Engineer to help lead the charge. Job Overview The Lead ISP Network Engineer will design, deploy, and secure high-capacity fiber and wireless systems. This position is in-person and involves on-site work. The Lead ISP Network Engineer reports to the Network Manager. Responsibilities On-site field work in varied terrain and all weather conditions Knowledge of carrier-grade IP, MPLS, and transport networks (fiber and wireless) Support cybersecurity and supply-chain risk management efforts aligned with NIST standards Configure, test, and optimize routers and switches (BGP, OSPF, QoS, VLANs, QinQ) Lead network deployments, migrations, and upgrades with minimal downtime Monitor and analyze performance through QoE and analytics platforms Collaborate with Construction, Systems, and Enterprise teams to design scalable solutions Mentor junior engineers and field techs Qualifications Degree or certification in a related field or 5+ years of broadband/cable experience Experience in fiber/wireless transport design Strong understanding of IP networking, routing protocols, and the OSI model Hands-on experience with Mikrotik CCR/CRS, Arista, Calix, and Cisco platforms Familiarity with Cambium, Tarana, Ubiquiti, and licensed microwave systems Understanding of Zero Trust, AAA/RADIUS, network segmentation, and micro-segmentation Must be able to lift, carry, or move equipment up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, crouching, or kneeling during installation or maintenance. Work may involve walking across varied terrain in all weather conditions, transitioning between sitting and standing, and extended periods of desk-based work or driving. Occasional travel may be required.
